Vikes' Williamson, Pats' Jackson on Denver's radar?
Vikes' Williamson, Pats' Jackson on Denver's radar?
Saturday, Jan 5, 2008 11:48 am EST
With Javon Walker likely on his way off the Denver Broncos after his eruption this week, the Broncos might look for a younger veteran to pair with Brandon Marshall and Brandon Stokley the Denver Post reported.
There should be several receivers available, possibly Minnesota's Troy Williamson and New England's Chad Jackson.
Williamson, the No. 7 pick in 2005, has been a bust with the Vikings and has had problems catching the ball. He could come cheap. Jackson has been buried in New England after being a second-round pick in 2006. He'll likely want out, but the Patriots may opt to hold onto him.

I wouldn't mind this trade
Troy Williamson and a 4th round pick for Javon Walker.
Do we even have a 4th rounder this year?

Isn't his (TW's) contract up?
I thought the rookie contracts were 3 yrs, did we sign him longer or am I thinking of NBA?
I wouldn't mind Chad Jackson.
He has hands
He will be an awesome WR if he get to Denver and gets a chance to play.
Jackson missed out on playing last season because of an injury.

No, Williamson signed a 7-yr 32 million dollar contract. He still has 4 years left on his contract which is all money just going down the tubes.Isn't his (TW's) contract up?

Re: Vikes' Williamson, Pats' Jackson on Denver's radar?
Last offseason was huge for TWill. He worked very hard on his vision and catching. He did get better at catching.
Now TWill needs another huge offseason. This time he needs to work on mental focus.
It looks like two-time Super Bowl winner Mike Shanahan believes TWill is worth it.
We should definitely NOT trade TWill. Keep encouraging him. Let's see what happens when he shows up at training camp. If he is improved, great, keep him. Maybe renegotiate his contract. If he is not improved, and his mental focus is still not there, Then trade him. But he will improve a lot.
TWill will be there. We need to believe in him.
Go Vikings!

I don't even care if he does improve, I wouldn't care if he went to denver and became a legit WR, and I don't want to give him another year HERE because he has yet to be good HERE. It might be that he goes to denver and prospers with a change of scenery, if so, good for him. He is easily replaceable in my opinion, we can find a receiver who is fast and can catch any day (A. Allison will be fine).Last offseason was huge for TWill. He worked very hard on his vision and catching. He did get better at catching.

Receivers usually start hitting their potential between years two and three... a decent rule of thumb to follow is if they haven't hit stride by the end of year three.. they probably will never blossom into the player a franchise envisioned.
