Vikes test patience of fans, players with unimpressive options at QB

You wouldn't hand your Uncle Ed a baton and have him stand up in front of the New York Philharmonic. You wouldn't stick a Kia engine under the hood of a Mercedes. And you surely wouldn't short-change or cut corners with an NFL team worth of Super Bowl aspirations, chintzing by with also-rans or haven't-yets at quarterback. At least not if you could help it, right?

"I think with legitimate quarterback play, the Minnesota Vikings shoot to the top of everybody's pick. With that running game, with the run defense they have . . . with consistency and productivity at the quarterback position, that's a pretty attractive combination.'
When was the last time us Vikings fans could say something like that?
And yet, we see yutz fans threatening to not buy tickets cause they don't like the HC.

Said it before and I'll say it again, I really thought we had a fan base that was a bit more knowledgable than that.
Simply makes me ashamed to be associated with fans of that ilk.
    :'(

Hey, Marrdro, could you please put the text from the article between a couple of [quote] tags? It makes it easier to tell what is your writing, and what is from the article. You can even put the article's url in the quote tag. Like this:

    Code:

I have been very patient with the developement of Tarvaris. Our personnel evaluators, and coaches(Chiller) see something that we've only had glimpses of. Keeping faith as this is the year our patience is rewarded, or we are going to be very dissapointed. I agree that some finger pointing in the clubhouse may start if T-Jack, or Sage doesn't solidify the QB spot. I also agree with Dilfer that our QB's just have to improve in critical plays. We are a run first, dominant defensive team. We play field position ball, and wear opposing teams down. It isn't as fancy as many would like, but it is our formula. Now it's time for our QB to step up another notch, make some crucial third down plays, and prove the nay-sayer's wrong. As for me, I have to believe that the time vested in TJ will pay off, and he will become our franchise QB.

Very nice post, especially your last comment.

My biggest concern with him is can he consistently read the defense and make the right call/adjustment pre-snap.
Mix that in with what appears to be a first year C who has to make those same reads consistently and you might have a recipe for disaster.

Lets hope that the reason they brought Sage in was to take the QB out of that equation or at least add Hutch in as the guy who "Assists" the Center with that read.

Lets just hope another leap has been made in reading defenses, but it is a cat and mouse game making it hard to get it right all the time, lets hope film study and coaching make it more consistent, especially with a new C coming into the mix. Maybe the Chiller will have the confidence to allow TJ more freedom to audible at the LOS.

I still say he does let him audible.
I know its hard for us to really know what is being done "Pre-snap" but there are some indicators that kindof back that assumption up.
Now the wild card is are they "Dummy Audibles" or actual adjustments at the line?

Problem is, I don't think they get it right all the time.
