Could've put this in the Birk or Klieny thread......
Haha... I love when people say Heath Farwell is a key member of our team.

He's a special teams LB. That's it. I don't care how bad we were on ST last year, there was a lot more wrong with our ST unit than just Farwell being out.

He'll soon learn that there is no market for a backup LB.
HAH......I knew there was something we agreed on.
    Just couldn't remember...... ;D
you'd be surprised what impact a special teams captain could have on the special teams.. or did yal not see our special teams last year with the same ppl same coach except farewell???
Well, in an attempt to prove you wrong... I proved myself wrong:

However, just because Ciurciu didn't step up and fill the roll... I'm sure another backup LB will be able to come in and do just fine.

Ciurciu was just slow. And sucked.
LOL.. toldyou i'm always right... now if I can only get Marrdro on board!!..

    ;D
    [/quote]

Eh... like I said, I'm sure any backup other than Ciurciu could step up and do the same.

That ranking I supplied has Farewell above such notable names as:

    Brandon Siler
    Niko Koutouvides
    Darrell Reid
    Brendon Ayanbadejo

    Who?
    Disclaimer: I'm an idiot.

its not just the tackles that account for Farwell's ability on special teams.
If you read the interview last year about him, Special Teams Coordinators game plan against him.
They have to come up with constant blocking schemes, because Frerraro had 5-7 different lineups for Farwell on any given Punt/KO situation.
Farwell is the only special teams player I've ever heard of that would take tapes home to study, so that he knows how blockers set up and what types of blocks they're going to try and use on him.
He commanded double teams, and would normally get around them.

true but notice how good we were in special teams the past two years versus last year... big difference, not to mention the record returns against our team.. possibly a two game difference there in the win column.. Hell, we may even have beaten philly had jackson not had so many return yards...

I blame that more on Ciurciu's ineptness than Farwell's superb play.

It's tough to argue against him... but I honestly think that he can be replaced.

We'll see though, if teams shoot him a bunch of offers in FA, I guess I'm wrong.

On top of what i said here, have to remember, Farwell knew his ticket into the NFL was Special Teams.
He can play LB adequately, but when he wanted to be picked up out of college, he told his coach he wanted to play Special Teams.
He studied and perfected it, to everyone else Special Teams is just something they have to do, to him, its his expertise.
