In all honesty there is only ONE face of our franchise right now and that is Adrian Peterson ... hands down.
Allen could be once he gets 15-20 sacks ... and T-Jack will be when the team has 10-11 wins because he is the QB and by default gets some face time.
But right now ... this is not multiple choice folks ... the face of this franchise is Adrian Peterson.
Obviously if you only pick one guy its AD. He has star power that exceeds the football realm. However, the Williamses are known to anyone who considers themselves a football fan, not just Vikings fans. I think Allen would need more than one season, but he
is a great player at a glamour position. We totally agree on TJ.
Come on... he's right, who else shines in this team like AD does?
When you talk about the vikings offseason you talk about Jared Allen. why would people bring up the Williams wall? They do it when they talk about Jared Allen...
Face of Franchise to me means that when you think about said team, you think about said player on team.
When I think NY Giants, I think of Strahan.
When I think Green Bay, I think of Favre.
When I think of the Colts, I think Peyton Manning.
When I think of San Diego, I think Ladanian Tomlinson.

The Vikings guy for this role is AD. Allen cannot possibly be a face because he was just acquired. We aren't talking about the offseason, here, we're talking about who has made memorable plays/games for the Vikings. Allen cannot be that strongly associated with the Vikes, because he hasn't made a single play in purple yet. The Williamses on the other hand are heavily associated with the dominant run D, which everyone in football knows us for. Combine that with visions of Kevin Williams returning INTs for TDs, and you've got FoFs.

Yep, free agent acquisitions already in the prime of their career rarely become faces of the franchise. AD was drafted by the Vikings and it's really not even a discussion as to the face of the current franchise.

Reggie White did it when he went to GB. He was the face of the franchise from the moment he signed.Farve was second fiddle until a few years later.

    I 100% agree.
Adrian Peterson is the face of the Vikes due to many things:
    1)
he's among the most marketable players in the NFL, 2) he steps up..."my goal is 2,000 yards, NFL MVP," 3) he is likeable, 4) he is one helluva player.

Birk is a statesman, articulate, Harvard man, Pro-Bowler, All-Pro, who's opinion will always be sought.

Sharper is a performer, GQ, articulate, outspoken, he is a commentator in training...his opinion will be sought.

Greenway has the opportunity to be a face, given his rural upbringing and his flat out desire, however, he must be elected to the Pro-Bowl a couple of times...it's possible.

TJack is not the face, yet.
He gets time due to his position and the fact that he has GOT to deliver.
He will get press early, for sure.....if he delivers, it will continue; if not, it will end.

Jared Allen.....if the kid starts on fire, there is a chance.
The reality is, he is a part of a 3 Pro-Bowler Defensive Line...Kevin is understated, Pat is out there, Jared is charismatic; Edwards/Robison - TBD.
I am very optimistic that we will be trying to figure out the nickname for this D-Line by Week 4.
This unit has the potential to be an explosive, amazing, group.
    Jury is out.

    Bottom-line:
AD is the face of the Vikes; Jared Allen has a chance, however, he will provide a forum for others to realize how awesome the Williams Wall is, hence, I predict, we will be trying to figure out a nickname for our front four.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

Sorry, but everywhere I go in my Vikings jersey, people say ONE thing...Adrian Peterson.
That is all the proof that I need...Peterson is the Face of the Franchise.
The DL will be the engine that could take the Vikings to the Super Bowl though...which is ultimately WAY more important to us Vikings fans.
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE

The Three Faces of the Franchise for the year.. like it or not people
I don't know whether to be happy or sad that that list doesn't include Taylor, Berrian, Birk, Hutch, McKinnie, Williams, Williams, Sharper, Winfield, Greenway, and Henderson.

LMAO. Remember when Matt Birk was the "face" of our offense? LMAO.
Taylor is a good player, but will never be the face of a franchise
Berrian is right now known as a one-dimensional receiver
Birk, Hutch, and McKinnie are lineman, there for never will fall here (sadly)
    ;D
Williams & Williams.. Love them, but not as high profile as Allen right now
Sharper, eh, an aging ball hawk
Winfield, one of my favorite players in the league, a leader in the locker room, but low profile
Greenway played pretty well and Henderson has yet to make it to the pro bowl, till then they also arn't right for the title, or at least wouldn't be considered it by many.

Peterson, Allen, and TJack are considered the three players that are supposed to impact this team the greatest and be associated with the rise of fall of this team.
Not to mention they're also fit "Face of the Franchise" because their young and will be around for years

So, be happy with that list

And yes, I'm just responding because I'm bored and hoping to argue

    Well then, lets argue.

    1. The only reason TJ is a face of our franchise is because he is our QB. Everyone I named is better than he is. Also, TJ is pretty low key and under the radar himself. In fact I'm going to say it right now. TJ is not a recognizable face for our franchise. At least not yet.
    2. Age has nothing to do with being the face of a franchise. Nothing.
    3. Now that I think about it, there are two ways to be a face of your franchise. One is to be amazingly good. The other is to be amazingly loud.If your franchise doesn't have either, it defaults to the best player on the team?

I don't think Allen can qualify as a franchise face either. He hasn't done shit in purple yet. What's the first thing you hear when someone on tv is talking about the Vikings Defense? Williams and Williams.

MY franchise faces: Adrian Peterson, and the Williamses.
The QB will always be the face of the franchise for any team no matter how good or bad he is.
