Nothing too new here other than the comment re:Childress' "demanding ways may not be a good fit in Minnesota."
Pretty good points made in the article.

i agree except demanding from his players. what is he suppose too do beg them to play hard.
Totally agree!! THe thing that the VIKES have always done is play great against good teams and play down to less talented teams.
Now we dont have the talent so hustle and playing hard should be our creedo.
These guys are paid millions to play a game that they love. Ridiculous..........
I agree, both with the article and the comments made here so far, i think we lack consistency. I hate getting really excited one week and then getting left wondering what just happened the week after. It bums me out
:(

He is supposed to do whatever it takes to get them to play hard, play smart, and play well. When you lead the league in penalties the coaching staff is doing something wrong.Quote:

You earn their respect.
Another thing Childress has yet to accomplish.

True, but I think a lot of the problem was the culture that Tice left him when he left.Quote:

After being spoiled like children for so long, some players were bound to react badly when someone came in and actually tried to instill discipline rather than be their buddy.
Granted, Childress may be too far in the other extreme, but I think he will earn more respect both as he grows as a coach, and the players who cannot adapt are shipped out. (i.e. DC, MRob, etc...)
A bit too critical for a team in the middle of a 3 year rebuilding plan.
Too many mistakes last year were due to poor concentration, which may be due to lack of will to play for Childress.
Some key players were willing to re-sign during the season; e.g. McKinney, Dugan, EJHenderson, and K.Williams, so some players like playing for Childress.
Meanwhile, some mistake-prone players, and players with attitude or behavior problems, were shipped out.
In summary, I hope this greatly reduces the penalties and mistakes due to lack of enthusiasm, initiative and will to play hard and smart for Childress; e.g. Smoot, M.Robinson.
I think the article underestimates the potential impact of the return of Greenway, T.Williams, EJames and D.Edwards on the pass defense, along with the obvious potential impact of replacing Tomlin with Frazier.
