Re: Vikes Begin OTA's

Sounds like we are off to a good start. Tarvaris will silence doubters early, Offenses will slide to block JA, and Ray Edwards will be getting his. This year we will have 1000 yard reciever, 1000 yard rusher... possibly 2 rushers, and both DE's have the potential for double digit sacks. Lets get those pads on.

The Vikings opened their Organized Team Activities today without center Matt Birk or running back Chester Taylor in attendance...

This should give TJack supporters something to look forward to:

The last play of highlight-caliber also came from Jackson, only this time he hooked up with second-year receiver Sidney Rice. On the play, Jackson dropped back and looked at a few different options, only to find all of them were covered by defenders. Finally he looked down the middle of the field and noticed a streaking Rice, hitting him almost in stride for what would’ve been a touchdown. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell was so excited he nearly jumped out of his shoes and then gave Jackson a big high-five on his way back to the huddle.
I know, I know, it's only OTA, they don't have pads on, they aren't going full speed, etc. etc., but if the coach is getting excited, I'm getting excited. ;D

All of these OTA reads are really good and the early signs are there of a really good team. Lets hope this continues through training camp, preseason and into the season.

The three most impressive plays were turned in by familiar Vikings faces. Tarvaris Jackson and Robert Ferguson hooked up for the first highlight-caliber play. Jackson took the snap, stumbled a bit on his drop back, looked off the safety and read progressively all the way to Ferguson’s side. Jackson then threw a laser to Ferguson and he reached out to haul in the pass and tip-toe along the sideline. Later, Darren Sharper intercepted a pass near mid-field and began returning it toward the endzone. After beating the entire offense down the sideline, Adrian Peterson (who was not a participant in the play) stepped out from the sideline and playfully acted as if he were going to tackle Sharper.
Does this piss you off Packer fans?
"Yes," said the Packer fan, "I was hoping that AD wasn't going to show up this season."

Re: Vikes Begin OTA's

With personalities like Allen, Pat Williams and Brian Robison, there was always plenty of chatter coming from the defensive line. But often times the lineman weren’t chastising players in other positions, they were giving each other a hard time, in a joking manner.

“It’s a great group of guys and we just have fun out there,” Allen said. “It’s football, and if you can’t have fun then you shouldn’t be playing.”
Good, that's what we need, chemistry.

And from the sounds of it, Jackson is getting on the same page as the receivers and making some throws.

But it's the first OTA, nothing to get too excited about.

Nice!!
Good stuff!
Got to love that he is going through the progressions and making the reads!!
Exactly what I wanted to hear.
On top of all our young talent having another year under their belt, we've got a bunch of guys who were new to the system last year too!
Ferguson, Wade, Rice, AP, Shank...all our weapons but Berrian have some time in this offense.
I see the comfort level growing and the playbook expanding tremendously now that all the pieces have been in place for a year!

Backup linemen step to forefront with starters away

The offensive line had a different look as Artis Hicks and Dan Mozes filled the roles of Bryant McKinnie and Matt Birk.
