Re: Veron Davis, our new tight end

Lets see ... first mock draft I google and this is what I find:

    http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/index.cfm?page=4

Leonard Pope ... TE for georgia being picked before Veron Davis. Not to mention, Pope is 4" taller than Davis and can actually block ... which a TE is most often expected to do also.

Now, I have never been a big believer in Mock Drafts ... but for arguements sake of this thread, I found it kinda funny Davis isn't even the first TE off the board.

It's all a crap shoot anyways and we dont "need" a TE and will not draft one in the first round ... so in the long haul, it's a mute point.

I think Ron Rivera will look for some "athletes" to take over wiggins.

that mock sucked... it had AJ hawk going to buffalo... buffalo already has one of the very best lb corpes in the league... and have much more vital holes to fill... like a new DT since we stole pat from them

Yep.. not gonna happen .. Pope could drop all the way to late second early third round.. Vernon Davis is the best TE out there..

That is all well in the "pink sky" of a land you live in. But when Wilf gives the job to Brad Childress ..... we will see how it pans out.

Its so early dude, you can't go off that. All Vernon has to do is run his 4.4 40 at, jump higher then all the other TE's, bench more than any other TE's and bam, first rounder.

I'm gonna side with the people expressing caution on the TE position. We have depth, experience and talent at that position. Wiggins is a great dump off receiver. And Kleinsasser has been as was previously noted an offensive lineman this year. Even with a bad knee. Many people would have seen much different from a yards gained on the ground if the line was able to hold up better. This will be even more so necessary to fix next year when Pep comes back. He will not be as mobile for the next year. We will need all the protection we can muster. Yes this Veron Davis is another potential beast, playmaker. I too wish him the best of luck. I doubt he will wear the Beloved Purple.

I'd like to have Belichick or Parcells ... but not going to happen either.

Rivera is not the right fit for us right now with all the veteran F/A signings from last year ... this team for the most part is built to win now ... and Childress has the experience do to that. I think it means something he is the first one in here for an interview ... dont' you?
