Coming out of Monte Vista High School in Danville, Calif., Kyle Wright was the nation's most recruited quarterback.

Yet he wasn't chosen in last weekend's NFL draft.....

Wright isn't sure how many teams wanted to sign him to a free-agent contract after the draft because he quickly decided to join the Vikings. He already had developed a rapport with quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers, and he was impressed with head coach Brad Childress. It didn't hurt that Rogers, Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell all have backgrounds working with quarterbacks

Hmmmmm, as we see more and more of this type of stuff the crowd that believed we couldn't get players because of the Chiller seems to have finally subsided.

Regardless, I throw the gauntlet down again for all to challenge if you still believe that way......

Gonna be good to see a group of QBs grown in the system.
Its the best way to approach that position.
Heck, they might even address the QB position again in 2010 draft and put another rookie on the practice squad.

Wow his High School was a big rival of mine in baseball, wonder if I ever played against him.
Hopefully he becomes a superstar and I got a hit off him or something!

Don't mean to sound negative, but I can't help but thinking, "Well here is another one of those guys you have some hope for in the offseason (thanks to an article about their background or a "fresh start article") and then by the time the season rolls around, he will be cut and forgotten. I remember last season there was some about Henson, a CB Chad Johnson, and a few others as well. That didn't end so well.

Udeze update: The Vikings officially ended defensive end Kenechi Udeze's 2008 season by placing him on the reserve/non-football injury list.

But the club, despite no obligation, will pay Udeze his $807,500 salary.

Good move by the club paying him. Glad to hear this.

Really, because I heard there's a good chance he might beat out booty for the third spot.
Something about Booty not proving anything and competition.
