Re: Twin Cities Press "Not Hard" on Vikes Draft
I do not think the Vikes panicked when they picked trevarius. They had plenty of time and there was plenty left on the board for the vikes to choose at qg. they got the man they wanted.
We can solve poverty today.

Good! I always say that you can't judge a draft until years later. Thats when u can judge....2008....if the players we picked haven't panned out by then, then we can start judging....

As usual , I dont sweat the draft picks, and it's not really about what you or I , or anybody else wanted Caj. I dont get paid to analyze the draft, or anything to do with the Vikes, but I will support them, as will everybody else here on this site. We all should take the "wait and see" attitude and go from there. 4 or 5 years from now we can look back and figure how these draft picks panned out, and then decide if our draft was a bust. I'm happy with the picks, but in 5 years..who knows..ask me then.IMHO, the draft went downhill when we picked Tavaris...mainly because I didn't want a project. I feel that we could have gotten him later in the third round of the draft and not sacrificed the other third rounder (which we could have used to possibly trade for Donnie Edwards). The Hicks deal will probably pan out though. Still want to see if Greenway will be better than Carpenter as well...not knocking it yet, just curious.

That looks bad. I think the guys are in bold are still in the league somewhere??To the people who think that this was the worst draft in Vikings history, I submit to you:
2001 Minnesota Vikings Draft Selections
1. Michael Bennett
2. Willie Howard
3. Eric Kelly
4. Shawn Worthen
5. Cedric James
6. Patrick Chukwurah
7. Carey Scott
8. Brian Crawford
With some research it is verified.
Bennett buried behind Deuce and Bush in NO.
Pat Chuck is in Denver.
Cedric James on the practice squad in NE.

The editors must have decided they were not going to spread anymore negativity on the Vikings. It had to be a top down decision. They have been negative far too long. Neutral or positive would be nice from here on out. Save the negative for something serious.I am also surprised the media didn't lambast the Vikes. I feel better about the draft now. Pre-draft, the TOA was talking about how deep the draft was, and how happy they were to have 5 picks in the first three rounds. Then to see them use those picks to "reach" for players long before they were projected was disheartening.
Now I'm more neutral and willing to let things pan out before passing further judgment.

No matter how the draft went there was going to be people in here bitching about it.
I am happy with what we got and I am looking forward to the season.

I don't know that there was a single QB in this draft that wasn't a project on some level. Certainly not VY, and Cutler needs to learn patience. Maybe Lienert was familiar enough with a pro-style system to start his first year but that's about it.
If Jackson has all the skills that Childress and Co. were looking for then it was a good pick. Childress has a reputation for developing QBs and certainly Jackson will be one of his biggest test. Supposedly the guy has everything they are looking for and is like a ball of clay waiting to be sculpted. If Childress can make this guy an all-pro and remakes this team into a perpetual winner at the same time, it will prove without a doubt that he is a great coach.
Only time will tell.

Re: Twin Cities Press "Not Hard" on Vikes Draft
I'll be hard on their draft, I don't think we really helped ourselves. We had a very poor draft in my opinion and did a lot of reaching for players that we could have gotten later. I'm happy with Greenway and Griffin, but was disappointed with our other selections. Oh well, I guess we'll see how we do!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!
