Troup (DT) to visit Vikings (Possible 3rd rnd)

I translated from Danish at draftday.dk. They usually have good sources, and are very good at the draft:

"The draft of 2010 is full of great nose tackles, an one of them is Central Floridas Torell Troup, who has great value on first and second down. Many teams have noticed, because there is great interest in Troup, who impressed under the East-West Shrine-Game in january, and later participated in The Scouting Combine.

The 6’2, 314-pund player, who potentially can land in the third round has his first visit in place. A source close to Troup tells that he'll visit The Minnesota Vikings in the beginning of April, a team that shows great interest in him.

Also the Chiefs, Browns, Patriots and Jaguars shows interest in Troup.

The link with the gem, just in case:

    Draftday erfarer...

Thanks to PPE for the sig.

Always looking for those gems. I still hope we can re-sign Kennedy, but he is off visiting other teams, so who knows.

Going to need a DT at some point in this draft, and if we think we can get a steal later, then we can use earlier picks on someone else. Hope he impresses.

    Thanks for the link, cogitans!
Ha ha! I can read the article because the written language of Danish is basically the same as the Norwegian language.

It's nice to read some scouting reviews in my "native tongue" for a change.

    DRAFTDAY.dk

I checked out the whole site to see how it compares to the much more popular and professional sites in the USA. Overall, I'm impressed by the dedication, but it didn't take long to find out that the site lacks the experience and resources that the more famous sites like ESPN and SI have.

For instance, they rank Toby Gerhart as a fullback.
One word: hidebound. Experts also tend to over-analyse players that have had great college careers. Toby might not have the change of direction skills as, e.g. Jahvid Best, but as a pure halfback, Gerhart is in my top five.

The do not rank Suh as the #1 defensive tackle.
Suh should be the #1 player in the draft in my opinion. The argument for McCoy is that he's a better pass rusher, but McCoy has only 14 career sacks, Suh has 19 sacks in just his last two seasons.

They do not rank Brandon Graham from Michigan as a top 10 defensive end.
Again, they seem a little hidebound. Ignore the height! Graham should go in the first round in my opinion. They don't even have him projected in the 3rd round.

They do not rank Chad Jones as a top 10 safety.
Jones has too many questions on him to be considered in the first round, but the late 2nd round is very likely as he has a ton of potential. They don't even have him in the 4th

    Thanks for the update Cogs.

First visit was a QB (Tim Hiller). Second visit, DT (Troup) for those that are keeping track.

When it comes to the draft, they are pretty accurate - usually a top site in rankings every year comparing it to other sites, they are very dedicated.

Kennedy has resigned. Moving along. We have Pat and Kevin. We have great young backups in Evans and Guion. We also have Robison that plays there sometimes. We are set. We also have Tremaine Johnson on the practice squad.

Apparently, they are not so accurate this year. Well... at least you have a Danish site. From what I've experienced first hand, Denmark most likely has the most media focus on the NFL than any other Nordic country. It's not huge, but you are light years ahead of Norway. I think that Sweden has many teams, but they don't seem very interested in the media. I don't know how big of an interest there is in Finland, but I doupt it's much.

Hvor mange år tror dere det går før Morten Andersen kommer inn i Hall of Fame?

We are far from set my friend.

    a. Kevin disappeared at times last year.
    b. Phat Pat took alot of reps of, alot of reps.
    c. JK, filled in admirably but he is the same age as Kevin.
    d. Rob only fills in on passing downs.
    e. I like Guion, but he is still probably a year away from taking over (which is a good thing) for Kevin, not Phat Pat.

Hopefully Guion will see some extra time, which will give Kevin a few reps off so he doesn't fade down the stretch.

I like the signing of JK and think he will continue to take the extra reps when Phat Pat can't go, however, if this is Phat Pats last year, we better have someone groomed to backup JK. Enter Troup.

Of course, we could, as the old regime did, just try to plug guys in right off the street instead of having some sort of long term plan to replace aging vets.

Re:Troup (DT) to visit Vikings (Possible 3rd rnd)

I caught a couple of NFLTA over the weekend ( as we don't them everyday now like we used to :-( ). One name that was thrown out was Terence Cody as a possible replacement for Phat Pat at NT. I don't know that much about him but could see the reasoning for getting an understudy in now to groom ready to replace Pat - anyone got any info or views on him ?
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...
