Hmmm, maybe after 14 years his arm just isn't what its was (even when he had a arm).
A 5.32 yard per attempt average shows me he dumped it off to the RB alot, and a TD to INT ratio of 7/12 shows me he made bad decisions when he through the ball or he doesn't have the zip to make the WCO type of throws.
Then throw in the 27 sacks in what, 6 games and I see a guy who can't make a decision with the ball.
As much as I'm not a backer of BB, I will take BB over that cat anyday and be damned with the idea that he will come in and provide some sort of leadership or teaching ability to our young QB's that some coach wouldn't give them anyway. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: Trent Dilfer Out in SF
Having to root for Trent Dilfer if he ever suited up and played for the vikes would be the one of the worst days of my life.
I would rather have Big Bad Brad back

Re: Trent Dilfer Out in SF
You guys have to remember, we WILL NOT get a starter quality player to be our backup, and if we did, he would become our starter.
When it comes to selecting a backup qb, a guy who can sit there and not give away the game is exactly waht you want.
You also want a guy with lots of experience, who can help out our younger starter.
dilfer would fill this role nicely.

Re: Trent Dilfer Out in SF
Its a sad day indeed when Dilfer becomes a source of debate for a Vikings roster spot.
As bad as we need somebody, I don't think he is the answer.
I can only imagine how much patience we would have for him on this team.
And for his sake, I would put his noggin to rest and find a spot where he more than likely will never see the field (like on his couch).

Re: Trent Dilfer Out in SF
I would take Brad Johnson as a backup anyday over Dilfer.

Re: Trent Dilfer Out in SF
I think these guys got it about right, time to hit the booth:
Trent Dilfer is undecided about whether he'll play football in 2008.
The 49ers are expected to push Dilfer into retirement this offseason, but he shouldn't need much encouragement. Dilfer is a tremendous analyst of the game and his performance on the field in 2007 showed he has little to offer an NFL team. He also can give one mean scouting report on Tony Romo.

Sad day indeed. What have we come to when people look to him as a viable option. It almost makes me wish Denny Green was back. At least he made sure we had a few QB's on the roster who could play. Its a sad day indeed when Dilfer becomes a source of debate for a Vikings roster spot.
