I think its too much of a risk for Cleveland.
Dropping down 4spots would allow another team to trade up and steal Peterson before he fell to 7.
Plus there are no gurantees that tampa, or arizona won't grab the best RB on the board.
That is why we need to offer them Memo in the deal.

    Re: Trade Talks With Cleveland?

I agree with Nodak, there will likely be discussion with Cleveland on draft day. But unless Cleveland
or the Vikings lose there minds it's doubtful a deal will be done for the following reasons.

Vikings have cap issues which will restrict the moves they can make this year. They have to be bargain shoppers and find great value in their picks.
Paying a third pick instead of a 7 pick will only make this worse when we need help at other positions as well.
We will have a better idea of our cap position in the next few days.

Other teams will have more to offer the Browns. My guess is the Browns will pick at number 3.

The Vikings know there will be a very good player available at number 7 no matter who is picked at 1-6. Even if it doesn't appear to be a position of immediate need, I think you still have to take the best athlete available at 7.

There are people here who want to keep all our current players and make trades to get a quarterback as well as move up to get CJ.

The budget just doesn't allow it all to happen that way.

Spielman and crew will need to be some astute bargain shoppers this year.

Besides CJ may just fall to us at 7. Very unlikely IMO, but stranger things have happened.

I'm sure they give a hoot about our perspective.

    Interesting.
We had legitimate interest in sammy morris which would have significantly cut into memo's time.
Maybe Chill has a plan to add memo to a trade.
Let's see if they still go after a rb in fa even after morris is gone.
    If so...
    this rumors makes since.

I think they were looking at Morris due to his special teams abilities .. we certainly need some help on teams.
