Thread: Trade Down!

Let's go with my idea and trade the #7 overall pick to the Jets for Justin McCareign, Eric Barton and their #28 overall pick.
Makes sense to me.

This last football season was the most boring I can think of.
The only game that really was A LOT of fun to watch was the Bears game in the dome....and we lost!
I realize one player isn't going to turn everything around, and logically thinking, we are better off trading down, but I want something to really look forward to besides our current "kick ass offense"
Perhaps a "Bustin' chops and breaking teeth offense" more suits our needs.

I do agree that usually one man doesn't change a team but I do want to bring back everyone's memory to 1998 when we drafted Moss.
We went from a mediocre team year after year (even though we made the playoffs alot) to a 15-1 dominant team.
That was mainly due to Moss being on the team.
Not that he did all the work but it opened up the field tremendously for the rest of the offense.
Therefore I can say that one man can change a team.
Not saying Johnson will do that but it is a possibility.
Doesn't happen often.

Randall Cunningham, Cris Carter and Robert Smith had as much if not more to do with the success of the 1998 team as Randy Moss.
You put Moss in there w/out Carter to draw double-teams and Randy's a whole different player.

I'm not downplaying any of their roles.
However they were all part of the 1997 team as well.
What I'm saying is that one person changed a team from mediocracy to greatness.
I totally agree with what you said about Carter.
IMO Carter was a better WR but it was the draft of Moss that put this team over the hump.

Cunningham only played six games in '97, and the Vikings made the playoffs, won the wild card and lost to the Niners in the Division round.
That's not chopped liver!

I like the idea of trading with Carolina, they are right about where I'd like to be #14.
I say swap first round picks with the panthers, get their 2nd, and a 4th/5th.
Then we can take (in order)

Greg Olson - TE Miami
Kenny Irons - RB Auburn
Robert Meachum - WR Tenn

Three nice young play-makers to add to the mix.
