    Re: Trade Chester Taylor? poll

We would still have a 2 headed monster. It would just be another RB, like MeMo if we resign him. Just about any RB can run with our Offense. And many teams need a real good #1 RB. We have 2. Yet no vet QB or good WR...i personally think we could get a ton for him

I think it would be fair to see him be the starter somewhere

And I think we could get good value.. We need a WR

We would need to resign Memo as well

    Only if we could
guarentee those things I would be for it

I say no. Adrian Peterson I don't believe can take the whole load. I don't think he could go the whole year single handedly taking all the carries in a run heavy offense. He'll wear down like Taylor last year. If peterson gets injured again we're screwed. We are the best running tandem in the league. Why change that. When Peterson went down we didn't miss a beat because of Taylor. Plus I believe we are getting rid of MeMo so we'd be hurting if we got rid of Taylor too.

Id do the trade only for a first rounder. Set the price high if your going to do it.

It worked well this season and it is working well elswhere...

    Minny:
    AP and CT
    Jacksonville:
    Fred Taylor and Jones-Drew
    Dallas:
    Julius Jones and Marion Barber
    San Diego:
    LT and Michael Turner
Denver: Travis Henry and Selvin Young
    Atlanta:
    Jerious Norwood and Warrick Dunn
    etc.etc.etc.

It will prolong both of their nfl careers.

I do want the balance to be weighted towards AP.
    Exactly !!
Look how far Chicago fell this year without Thomas Jones.

However, if we're talking about a #1 receiver in exchange for Chester that would be intriguing.

Minny- Didn't make playoffs.. We need a WR to help that out

Jacksonville- I think benifited most with it.. Also had a very good passing game

Dallas- Great passing game it doesnt matter who runs.. Both are good tho

San Diego- Good passing game.. Lt is a freak anyway and they don't need two

Denver- Travis Henry was out alot.. Selvin was one of those "plus in backs" anyway

Atlanta- Same boat as us.. Good running game back won't matter without a passing game

Point being.. It is good to have two backs.. But if we can get a WR weapon I think we need to

I and many will agree with you on the 2-back system...
just one with a less expensive back than CT.

Oh now cmon. San Diego is NOT a two-back system. Michael Turner only gets carries when the game is mostly out of reach or LT has been in like 8 plays in a row. Hell Turner didn't even have 320 yards on the year.
To be a two-back system I think you pretty much need to have two backs getting a fairly equal number of carries and I would said at least 8 a game for each back. The only REAL two-back systems in the league are:
Dallas (and that is changing quickly) - Barber with 13 carries a game, Jones with 10
Jacksonville (they do it the best by far) - Taylor with 14.9 carries, Jones-Drew with 11.1
Minnesota (just learning how to do it) - Peterson with 17, Taylor with 9.8
Carolina (cant figure themselves out at all) - Foster with 15.4, Williams with 9
New Orleans (from two years ago with Deuce's injury this year) - McAllister with 16.3, Bush with 9.7

Other teams like Cincinnati, Houston, Denver, Seattle and the Giants had a number of guys with a handful of carries due to injuries, but a primarily ONE back systems when it comes to game time ...
The two-back system is overrated. Having a good back up is not. I don't want Chester getting 9 carries a game unless All Day got his 25. There is no reason to put the ball in Chester's hand other than a play here or there to give Peterson a breather.

Look at the best teams in the league and their situation as they head into the playoffs:
New England - ONE back ... Laurence Maroney (the few times they actually run)
Indianapolis - ONE back ... Joseph Addai
San Diego - ONE back ... LT
Pittsburgh - ONE back ... Najeh Davenport (subbing for Parker)
Jacksonville - TWO backs ... and the best in the league at it
Tennessee - ONE back ... Lendale White
Dallas - TWO backs, but starting to go more and more to Barber
Green Bay - ONE back ... Ryan Grant
Seattle - ONE back ... Shaun Alexander
Tampa Bay - ONE back ... Earnest Graham
N.Y. Giants - ONE back ... Brandon Jacobs
Washington - ONE back ... Clinton Portis
Now all of these teams have back ups that get some action ... but they dont come close to "splitting carries."
Trading Chester would be bad because he is a phenomenal backup ... but we do not need to keep him if we can get something. There is no reason to keep him and feel obligated to work him into the lineup. MeMo can serve quite well as a third down back. But Chester should only stay if he understands his role is going to continue to diminish.

IMO Letting go of CT would be a great mistake.
He would probably prefer to start on another team but we need him for that one two punch with AD.
Wouldn't we just kill ourselves if he ended up in Chicago or even Green Bay for that matter!
I might consider it for an all pro QB but when do you see all pro QB's in trades?
I would give Chester the same carries as we did this year and use him for that third and long back (which seems to happen more than few times a game*sarcasm).
If Chester demanded a trade (rightfully so) it would be devasting to our team because what if AD does go down?
Than we are truly in deep trouble. But just for clarification I did vote for QB on the poll.
Great question with this poll though!
Uh ... why the hell would we trade him to Chicago or Green Bay? We didnt say release him ... we can control where we trade him.

I would trade him straight up for Fitz.
If we cannot get Fitz for him then we need to hang onto Chet.
