Third worst draft according to Mel Kiper (C-)
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft10/insider/news/story?page=KiperDraftGrades
Minnesota Vikings
Summary: This draft just didn't impress me. After trading down, the Vikings got a guy in Chris Cook who has the chance to help them, but he also is a guy who rose late, impressing at the Senior Bowl. Can he deliver that kind of performance every week? I think the trade to move up and grab Toby Gerhart was odd, partially because there were some other good backs on the board, and also because while most think Gerhart will be able to catch the ball, it was never really his game. He's a true pounding running back. Everson Griffen looks like a value, but he is extremely inconsistent.
Draft grade: C-
Sorry Rick! Keep up the good work.

Kiper is a yutz and always has been a yutz, especially when teams don't take the players he thinks they should.
Truth of the matter is, my guess is guys like Mayock do better with thier Mocks because they are respected by the teams and the teams give them better insight (what little they do give) than they do to a chucklehead like Kiper.
Kindof funny though, I didn't watch one minute of ESPNs coverage this year. First time I ever completely tuned them out. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

This from the same guy that ranked Kevin Williams behind Dwayne Robertson and Jimmy Kennedy... and then blasted the Vikes for the horrible pick, but then again I think I was about the only fan who didn't think he was a one year wonder.
http://maryland.scout.com/2/961104.htmlThe moment was surreal in Vikings folklore. Mike Tice came out to talk about the pick, being loudly booed and telling the crowd to “settle down.” It was a rough room – so much so that, as he started to speak, a frail, but angry looking elderly woman walked up as close as she could get to Tice at center stage and flipped him the finger.
Remember Nattiel? He was the #2 OLB on Kiper's board.Skol

Kiper smokes more kush than I do.

Re:Third worst draft according to Mel Kiper (C-)
Lol ... is there any better sign that is was a good draft?
This is going to be funny, because everyone loves to bash Kiper, but now they will use this to back their blasting of this draft.
Kiper is a grumpy draft guy. He looks at everything cut and dry and if you take players that he does not agree with he blasts you. He blasted us for Kevin Williams (as someone mentioned) I also remember him talking about Williamson being a pretty solid pick.
I did not watch one bit of ESPN this year either, mostly because of this yutz and because Berman always seems to be off on his own with the rest of the panel looking at him like he is an idiot. NFL Network all the way. I wish McShay and Steve Young were on NFLN.

Vikes drafted players for specific needs to cover specific weaknesses.
Needed a Gerhart not a Best. Power not finess.
Needed a big CB to take on the big WR's at the line to throw of timing and routes.
Griffen was a BPA, with tons of upside. Also can have a time in the DL rotation.

Getting rid of Tahi would have been on my needs list for the draft.

Listen Mel, ET could arrive riding a flaming Harley Davidson with Elvis riding shotgun and Pamela Anderson as his beeyatch and you'd still be unimpressed because he failed to bring Bigfoot along for the ride.
There's a reason you're called Jnr - because you're not ready to talk with the adults. Now put away your toys and toddle off to bed. Mummy will bring milk and cookies when you're tucked in.Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

Re:Third worst draft according to Mel Kiper (C-)
It's impossible for anyone to rate a draft before any of the players play a single game. Additionally, those who rate drafts are inherently biased based on which players they liked or didn't like. Finally, I put zero credence as to what Kiper says about our draft...and like midgensa said, his low "grade" makes me feel better about our picks.
