The proof will be on the playing field. I have high expectations for our "D" & am putting a lot of faith in Tomlin's experience as a defensive coordinator.

If our defense stays healthy & our linebackers step up & perform well, I think we are in for an exciting year.

Did you notice that every low grade that he gave other teams for losing key players, alot of those players came to Minnesota, and yet he gave us a lower grade.. It seems like just pure hate..

When you add guys like Ben Lieber, and Tank Williams to compliment the same defense you had last season is not a downgrade.. Sure Cowart did good for us, but that was a defense that he was use to.. This defense is different, and he didn't fit the need.. Tank Williams is a very good safety.. I believe he and Sharper will feed great off of each other.. We upgraded both sides of the ball, and also special teams.. Not to worry Viking fans, this guy is a assclown..

Vikings: They loaded up on offense, welcoming Steve Hutchinson, Tony Richardson and halfback Chester Taylor. At the same time, they watched the breakup of the defense they worked so hard to build last year. Linebackers Sam Cowart and Keith Newman, end Lance Johnstone, safety Corey Chavous and corner Brian Williams all left. Grade: D
We broke up the defense? I think our defense got better! We added Leber and Greenway who are both linebackers that fit Childress' system, and we picked up Tank Williams and retained Willie Offord who will fit in at SS. We still have Sharper, P-Will, K-Will, Erasmus, Smoot, Winfield and Udeze will be healthy again. I agree with abberation....this guy doesn't watch football.

get over daunte, I'm glad he's gone. we had no chance w/ daunte, always fumbling, big butt would never run,BRAD JOHNSON is a better leader, plays smart, wont turn the ball over, and a more acurate passer alot better at checking down.brad stays calm and uses everybody on offense, pep is lost if his 1 target is'nt open. and what has kitna done to be better than brad? that article is weak we picked up a great kicker, safety, linebackers

Amen, brother. Daunte never would have brought a championship to MN; Big Johnson likely won't either, but at least now we can begin developing the QB of the future for the Vikes.

As for that goofy article, it begins by saying:

"From the Dolphins and Lions (both A's) to the Patriots (F), our grades were based on a team's level of improvement or decline."

He admits that we "loaded up on offense" with the additions of Hutch, Taylor, and Richardson. He conveniently forgets our upgrade at kicker with Longwell, the acquisition of Hicks at RG, and the addition of a number of new coaches.

Then he says our defense was "broken up" because we lost "Linebackers Sam Cowart and Keith Newman, end Lance Johnstone, safety Corey Chavous and corner Brian Williams". I can only assume that he doesn't know the value of these players on our roster.

Cowart is old...really, really old; there was no way he could play in pass coverage well enough to succeed in our new Cover 2 defense. The addition of Leber and Greenway should more than make up for the loss of Newman and Cowart.

I liked Johnstone, but he's getting pretty long-in-the-tooth tool. And he really never was much more than a 3rd down, pass rushing specialist. A healthy E. James, Udeze, Fat Pat, and K. Will should prove to be one of the best DL's in the league.

Safety has been upgraded on this team. Chavous was overrated and over-paid. Tank and Offord will do great back there. Brian Williams was a good player and his loss will be felt, but he isn't worth the kind of money that he's getting with the Jags. It remains to see how the secondary does, but the Cover 2 plays to the strengths of Smoot and Winfield, and Sharper is a STUD who will provide continuity and veteran leadership back there.

I like our offseason moves and would give us a B...a grade of D is just plain ignorant.
    I am a dipshit!!!

You consider 31 really, really old? Sam is only 3 years older than Leber & you make it sound like Leber's really young?

Greenway was great in college, but the pro's is a whole different league. He hasn't proven himself on the pro field yet.

Finally we can point out something to Singers.. Tomlin has never been a DC before signing with the Vikings.. He has always been an assistant in Tampa.. I understand what you are saying though my friend, just couldn't pass up the opportunity..

It isn't the 1st time I've been wrong & it won't be the last, but at least you know what I meant.

    That's the important thing.
