(So far) Vikes fail to adress two pressing needs
Ok, don't get me wrong, I am very excited about our prospects for 2008 (I have the Vikings at nr. 7 in my NFL power rankings !).
However, I think I would be remiss in my duties if I did not mention that we have not addressed two glaring needs that need to be dealt with: QB and tight end.
All NFL teams need a good QB, and all modern NFL teams need a receiver or tight end to go "underneath"
and create mismatches for the opposing linebackers.
I did not see us adress this so far in the draft. Instead, we draft yet another safety ??? I don't get it. How many safeties does this team need ??

I agree.
And we had such a good off season till this point. Even though we overpaid Berian, we really needed him.

Re: (So far) Vikes fail to adress two pressing needs
I'm not SO concerned about tight end, because I think Shiancoe will have a better year this year and Kleinsasser will still have some impace.
I am disappointed in our quarterback situation....again. I am disappointed we didn't take Brohm or Henne, and I am upset that Gus Frerotte is our backup. I just don't think Tarvaris is going to be consistent enough to take us anywhere.

Tarvaris is and remains the Achilles heel of this team.
We also need some kind of underneath threat. I admit, that could be Bobby Wade. Or Shiancoe. It is just, I did not see that from them yet in 2007. If they are going to turn into that kind of underneath threat, they will have to step their game up in 2008. It could happen.

At the QB position I am willing to see what improvements TJ has made in the offseason. Tj has loads of skill. I believe Ferrotte can manage the team if he is called upon. Maybe have a few games with big numbers too. The combo of TJ and Gus may be enough to reach the playoffs.
As far as TE goes we do need a top notch player. Maybe a trade will be in the works for one.

Re: (So far) Vikes fail to adress two pressing needs
I am fairly certain that the FO has somebody targeted for QB, because we wouldn't have passed on Brohm if they didn't have something in mind....
Dixon in the 5th perhaps?

We can easily get Dixon or Colt in the 5th round.

I would agree that they must have someone picked out if they passed on a couple of higher pick guys.
