While these numbers will be subject to change as players are signed, released and bonuses kick in, it looks to be an active free agent season and, with the Vikings sitting at No. 6 with an estimated $32.4 million in available money, they could be one of the bigger players in free agency this offseason.

Here are the team-by-team salary cap totals as of today:

    1. San Francisco $42.1M
    2. Buffalo $39.7M
    3. Arizona $36.7M
    4. Tennessee $36M
    5. Cleveland $33.3M

    7. (tie) St. Louis $32M
    9. New England $30.4M
    10. Cincinnati $30.2M

Is that enough money to buy a superbowl team?
somebody better have collegeguyjeff re-work those figures..I think we'll have more than that!
    The Vikings DO NOT have $32.4 mil to work with. If you read the rest of the article it clearly states;

However, after the signings of linebacker E.J. Henderson and defensive tackle Kevin Williams in December, it is believed that number shrank to just over $23 million
We have around $23 mil to work with.

Now if we are to use CollegeGuyJeffs logic; "Wiith many teams already $30 mil over the cap, that gives us $53 mil to work with."

The two I bolded are the ones that I wouldn't mind looking at.... I also wouldn't mind keeping Bethel Johnson around as a 3rd or 4th WR, and kickoff returns.. All depends what we do on the trade front I guess..

    Re: Show Me The Money

Turns out our cap situation is a little worse than we thought.
Apparently we only have 14 mil in cap space.
Vikings.scout has an article on it, and pft.com provided this updated link to the complete list for each team.
    This sucks.

Look at New England, they are always competitive and they have money to spare.

    I like their example.

Not a lot to spend on this year.

(don't yell at me for this), but on my madden 07 i snagged algie crumpler as a FA.
Is he supposed to be a UFA this year?
i'm sure the falcons will give him a new contract if he is, but i was just wondering.
Crumpler is not on the list.

Just don't come back here & say that we should go after Crumpler because he was a beast for you in Madden 2007.

thats not waht i'm saying, i try to avoid comparing real football to madden, but jsut the fact he was a UFA on madden was enough for me to wonder if he was available.

Nice to see the vikes have all that money, but they need to spend more of it. Maybe spend about 10-12 mil on FA and let Chili get the peeps he wants in here, while dumping all the peeps that dont fit the "scheme". Similar to what the Saints did I guess. Also, if for some insane reason the Colts dont franchise Freeney, spend whatever it takes to get him here.

IDK, I'm just not a fan of having a ton of money under the cap while having a turd of an offense on the field. I'm sure the Pats were wishing they spent some of their money on Branch. The 2 biggest catches, that could have sent them to the Super Bowl, were dropped on the cheap, but atleast they have 30 mil under the cap. :P

    peace...
