Yeah...but Sheppard automatically upgrades the secondary...and if the Vikes get Allen, they end up with one heck of a defense.Tough to give him up w/o a replacement...
BMac can be replaced in the running game phase of the offense...and his replacement can't be too much worse in the passing game phase (it's not that great anyway).
There are still a lot of questions about the other guys as well.
I think they are developing nicely, but I'm not sure which one is going to step up when Winfield leaves. :-Rock out with your cock out!!!

Re: Should the Vikes trade BMac to the Eagles for Lito Sheppard?
I would equate this to the Allen trade.
Any time you have a chance to trade for a impact player entering their prime without mortgaging your team's future, you jump on it.
Trading an overrated turd like BMac for an underrated stud CB like Sheppard would be fantastic.
As long as the team feels good about BMac's replacement, I think I'd pull the trigger on this deal.Rock out with your cock out!!!

Re: Should the Vikes trade BMac to the Eagles for Lito Sheppard?
I don't think there is any reason to trade for him, I think Winfield is in his last year of his contract but I expect a healthy year from him and if he produces like usuall I believe it would be wise to extend his contract. Grifin is doin a decent job, he would play even better if we could actually play more Cover 2, he's a great zone guy, not a bad man to man guy, needs to work on his ball skills but he's still very young playing a very difficult position. I thought Charles Gordon was Winfield a couple times last year, he hasn't been battlle tested to much but shows serious promise for a UFA. McCauley has the size and tools to become a great player, he has terrific speed, showed he can make a hit and defend the pass, but was often burned and did not look as well at seasons end. Most of the guys we got are young and full of promise.
IMHO we could really help the secondary out with some pass rush, too many years in a row now our CB's are getting to much of the blame, this was even going on when Brian Williams was here. Last year everyone in on NFL Network predicted that we take a CB but they based this off our yardage given up, they are finally figuring out its a serious lack of pass rush. This is why we should do what it takes to get allen in here or we will never be able to compete with the big boys.

Re: Should the Vikes trade BMac to the Eagles for Lito Sheppard?
I really wouldn't be happy with that trade...
Sheppard is a very good football player, though he'd help our defense, having him is not a need, while without McKinnie we have a huge hole at OT...
We're already pretty good at the CB position...we're not very deep at all at OT, overall, I think it would hurt us more than help us, we need a replacement before we can ship McKinnie off...

Re: Should the Vikes trade BMac to the Eagles for Lito Sheppard?
Okay, here's what they should do.
Trade their first and 3rd for Allen.
Then trade AW + one of their 6th rounders for Lito.
I think that pretty fair.
AW is no slouch.
That would make for a very good defense.
Then you trade BMac for a 2nd rounder.
He is overrated.
We can definately replace his pass protection and can draft a decent OL with 1 of 2 second rounders (possibly move back up to a 1st rounder by trading the 2 second rounders).
Perfect scenerio

why would the eagles want winfield, they are getting rid of a younger corner for an older one? they signed Samuel so they are trying to get rid of one of their corners, doesnt make sense for them to trade for another CBOkay, here's what they should do.

This makes zero sense to me, Allen is better than any DE we would get with 17, but why trade AW away for a worse CB? I would rather just resign Winfield and draft a CB with the 6th round pick you also suggest giving up.Okay, here's what they should do.

BMac may be overrated, but he is also better than any OT we could find in the second round. Some scouts even argue that Chris Williams won't be able to start right away, and he is projected to go in the top half of the first round.
