    Shoot down this radical idea.

Instead of a draft, why not have career week that takes place the week following the combine.

Every team and player is present and every team has equal shot at hireing whoever they want at whatever price they want within the salary-cap and negotiate whatever contract they want.

Conversly, players would have a choice of where they wanted to go and would have to weigh the offers etc..

I'm sure there are valid reasons why it wouldn't work, just point them out or why it's a bad idea, just point them out.

    No, that's ridiculous.

All players want to go to a winning team, the current playoff teams would get all the good players.

The draft order is worst to best to give the worst teams the best shot and signing the best players, to try to even out the talent across the league.

What, like choosing up sides when you were a kid? Which of the top college players would want to play for Miami or Atlanta, if they had a chance to interview with the better NFL teams?

Can't think of a single positive reason why this process would ever work...plus we would all miss Draft Day.

At this point, would you really want to play for a team like the Falcons or Miami?.....

Not many players coming out of college would either.... :'(

If we did this everybody would be in line for the multi millionaire ceeo booth and the pooper scooper booth would be empty.

That depends upon what kind of incentive bonuses were put into place and what OTHER college players they got signed.

I already have two bad knees (one my doc attributes to playing High School Football) and a bad shoulder.

I probably wouldn't qualify to carry water jugs.
