You're an idiot...Booty won't win the job...he's a rookie...and Childress will want to see how Jackson adjusts in his 2nd full season. If it was a year from now at this time and Jackson played as bad as last year for the 2nd season in a row, you might have a valid point. Booty will be the 3rd QB this year...and thats if he can win the job over Brooks Bollinger. Hopefully this guys good enough to make the roster but theres no way he's good enough to win the starting job...not this year anyway.

My thinking? There's a reason JDB fell to the fifth round amongst a thin field of QBs. He's mediocre at best and has very little upside.

If TJ continues to grow, and he did show spurts late last season, he can at least ascend to adequate and maybe all the way to above average. I have a hunch that while he's probably not gonna be in the pro bowl, he's gonna make big enough strides to become a solid asset. He could use a decent TE but....

No ... Booty will not earn the starting job ... nor even be given the chance to in TC or Preseason.

maybe idiot is a bit harsh, but history tells us most 5th round picks don't come in and start in their rookie seasons no matter who the starting qb is in front of him.
so maybe not an idiot, but not very well thought out.
it's just another fan who thinks any qb can come in and do better than tavaris.
need we not forget that culpepper, brad johnson, kelly holcomb, and brooks bollinger all have been terrible as starters for us over the last 3 years.
theres been more to our passing problems than just the qb play.
hopefully with the additions that have been made over the last couple of years and the progression of tjack that comes to an end this year, but lets be realistic, if booty were to start i think most people who know football would be shocked.

If Tarvaris were awesome, I might agree with you. But he isn't, and so I don't see a huge downside in starting another "raw" QB. To me, it is just the same as what we already have: raw talent. So let the "other" raw talent also compete.

Yeah, TJack might still be a little "raw," but this will be in his 3rd year in the system.
Besides, TJack at least knows who is supposed to snap the ball to him...

I agree, but, unfortunately, there will be idiots on this site that will be demanding a QB switch after the first loss....probably even some 'BOOTY, BOOTY, BOOTY' chants from the stands (especially if cajun is in attendance).
They are here and have no problem exposing their idiocy throughout the season.
That's one of the reasons this board is hilarious.

Re: Booty could get starting job in pre-season

My guess is you're the one who was begging for Bolinger to start over T-Jack last year & when he did come in for T-Jack after the injury, he failed. Then you were crying for Holcomb to start & when he got his shot & failed you were wondering when T-Jack would be ready to play again.

I remember how those threads went full circle & eventually came back to Jackson & when he started winning, those other threads ceased.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't T-Jack win 8 of his 12 games last year?
