I dont see us passing on Merling or maybe even Groves..
Malcolm Kelly is also there..
Put i could live with Williams, im not sold on him.. He is a good player, but i just got a gut feeling about him.

Not a sexy pick, but it might be a good idea.
Even without a Mckinnie suspension you could say it's a need.
Don't know a lot about the guy though.

I like Merling as I think he would be a good fit but think he could be gone before 17.Quote:

Groves on the other hand is a bit light and wouldn't fix our issue with LDE.
Phillip Merling Clemson 6-41/4 276 4.75

Quentin Groves Auburn 6-3 259 4.57
I like Campbell as well.
Calais Campbell Miami (FL) 6-73/4 290 5.04

Marr... have you heard the reports on Campbell??.. alot of mocks have him falling out of the first and some even the second all together... bc of his workout and combine.Quote:

he was big and his work ethic is said to be questionable..
with that said, groves is only 5lbs lighter than golston and harvey.
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfldraft/draft/tracker/position?id=31&draftyear=2008
so i don't think he's light... we could sign darion scott back and draft say groves and that would be our pass rushing end.
we need a pass rusher not necessarily someone to do both...

I like watching the combine and think some of thier info is credible but all that means is he didn't have the right guy get him ready so that his numbers didn't jump through the roof like Gohlstons did.Quote:

As to only 5lbs difference.
The web site I used (gave url for) shows a heck of alot more than 5 lbs my friend.
They list Groves at 259.
That is a bit light if you ask me.
Of course, that site could be wrong.
This one has him at 254.

I dont like Campbell.. I said it before..
Also with Campbell, he is getting up there in weight and I'm not sure how his height will serve him when he's moved to DT because he's 310 pounds.
At first I liked him but after the reports of his workouts and the fact that he put on 10 pounds since the season, i'm inclined to go elsewhere.
I would be fine with an OT in the first round, for the reasons already mentioned, but it sure isn't sexy.
Not that it matters because it's a highly important position and I think this staff has done a nice job scouting and drafting the past 2 years.
It just doesn't have the same ring as:
"With the 7th overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft, the Vikings select Adrian Peterson, Running Back from Oklahoma"
-followed by (obnoxious yells of joy from everyone in purple!!!)
I really want Derrcik Harvey, obviously Gholston would be sweet, but he won't be there, and I don't see us trading up to get him.
Also if Malcom Kelly is available, he would be tough to pass on I think, he is a stallion.
I do think Robison is gonig to step up and play better, but I would feel a lot better drafting an elite pass rushing prospect, as we are not deep or overly talented at the position (understatement of the thread)
Off the subject a little but Why isn't anyone signing D'agelo Hall, and why don't we if nobody wants him?
