Report: Taylor wants out of Miami

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/04/19/report-taylor-wants-out-of-miami/

The rumor mill has linked Taylor to the Jaguars.
Cole throws out possibilities like the Browns, Packers, Eagles, Patriots, Cowboys, and Steelers.
(The Vikings are another team with an obvious need, if they can’t get Jared Allen from the Chiefs.)

Umm....can we get both?

He really doesn't fit the mold of what this staff looks for in a top line FA....

a.
Coming off first contract year.
b.
Young
c.
Not reall old.
d.
Can play with the team for alot of years.
e.
Did I say young.
;D

Seriously though, I would love to get both but don't think it would be a pressing need if we get Allen. Allen would really fix all of our DL woes so that the team could then look to the draft for nothing but the BPA that could added depth to key positions (i.e. QB, DT, S OT possibly even a WR).

Replacing McKinnie will be a big if not huge problem for us, as the writer stated, we only draft at #17
only move that i could think of would be moving up in the Draft but it's unlikely

You know what Marr, you're correct. The team seems to be focused on players in the 4th - 5th years range with talent.

I have talked about it several times over the last year, however, I listened to Kirwin the other day talk in depth about how GM's work thier player/personnel to all peak at a given time.

If you look real close at our moves from 2005 on to present day, almost all of our key players are about the same age and have about the same experience.

A very interesting study if you have time to look into it.
Much to hard to articulate via a keyboard.

Or not.

This is an article from one of the threads I provided the links to. This is from March 1st, over a month & a half-ago.

Taylor and Dolphins to part ways

[i]By Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports

Mar 1, 7:10 pm EST

Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor has already moved away from South Florida. The only thing left is to figure out his next address.

Three sources close to the Dolphins organization said this week that Taylor and the team he has been part of for 11 years have graciously agreed to part ways between now and the NFL draft April 26. There’s no animosity between Taylor and new Dolphins guru Bill Parcells or coach Tony Sparano...
