Re: Realistically, what is Smoot worth in a trade?

Hopefully we could still get a 4th rounder for him, but I am not sure if we could.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

I say a 3rd rounder at best, I say get what we can for him and draft Josh Wilson out of Maryland with our 3rd round pick, very very promising looking corner.

Daunte Culpepper or Joey Harrington, take your pick.

Re: Realistically, what is Smoot worth in a trade?

I think it depends on who we try and pawn him off on.
I think Washington might be our best bet.
They hate having draft picks for some reason and they need a CB.
Smoot might want to go back to the place he had the most success in his career and may even reneg his contract for the skins.
Even if he doesn't, Washington doesn't mind spending way too much for way too little.
The Redskins don't have much to offer us this year (#6 and 5-7 rounds) but if we gave them Smoot this year we could probably get a 2nd or 3rd rounder from them in '08 draft (for 2 reasons: 1. They like trading away draft picks, 2. next year's picks are worth less than this year's at this point) and maybe we throw in a provision that if Smoot makes the Pro Bowl we get their 1st rounder or something like that.
I think that is our best option but maybe I am way off...
When it s all said and done, you ll have to admit we re number 1!

my trade to arizona would be the equal to the moss deal..fitzgerald in exchange for the #7 pick, Fred Smoot, and a 7th rounder..throw in udeze to sweeten the deal..we get a franchise receiver in exchange for a great pick packaged with 2 of our garbage players

Udeze is a garbage player? I find that hard to justify.
He was part of a line that was the #1 rush defense in the league.
His sacks disappeared, but he was also playing out of position the entire season.
He will be right back up there in 07 with James back.

What is your criteria for garbage anyway?

I think Frazier can turn him around (as he has a fine reputation with defensive backs such as Brian Dawkins, Deltha O'neal, and Bob Sanders). Lets not give up on him just yet!
