Re: Realistic Draft Pick and Free Agents/Needs
i am curious to see what people think the actuall needs of the vikings are. i think wee need more depth at the offensive line, and we need a bonafide stud at the linebacker position. I think running back would be a position where we could upgrade, but i think improving the line will do more for the running game than that would anyway.
so where do the vikes need improvement?I m Down For A Boat Party

I agree to a certain extent. I want to get better through FA but we need to be careful not to overspend so that 3 years from now we don't have to tear apart the team because we are in salary cap hell.STUD RB, STUD LB, STUD OL...those are our needs...whether we fill them in FA or the draft is entirely up to how much money Wilf wants to spend! I would prefer to go the FA route...so that we can win NOW!!!
In the draft I want to get get a RB at #17 whether it be LenDale White but it will most likely be Maurice Drew from UCLA since we are hiring his RB coach from UCLA."Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn t work hard."

FA
1. Sign Akin Ayodele. Perfect MIKE for the cover 2.
2. Sign an FA Cornerback. Age doesnt matter only skill level.(4)
3. Sign a new RT that is better than rosenthal. (1)
4. Sign Adam Archuleta.(2)
Draft
Round 1: Lendale White(3)
Round 2: Greg Blue/ D'Qwell Jackson (if we dont sign either ayodele or archuleta)
Round 3: O-Line
Round 4: CB/ OL/ LB
2) Hell no.
3) He won't drop to us.
4) Draft Michael Huff or Jimmy Williams and convert them to safety, we don't need another CB if you say age or skill level doesn't matter, we have Davonte(sp) Edwards..
I think we should trade Fred Smoot to the Rams or to the 49ers (we could also send Michael Bennett, and request for them to put a franchise tag on Julian Peterson, so we send them a 3rd rounder for him,but thats only for the niners, I need to do some more research for a Rams deal) for their first round pick.
In case that was tough to understand, which it probably was.
Vikings get, #6 overall pick and *Julian Peterson.
49ers get Fred Smoot, #17 overall pick, *3rd Round pick.
*If franchise tag is applied.

Re: Realistic Draft Pick and Free Agents/Needs
I don't know about Julian Peterson anymore he gets hurt a lot so his production has fallen off and his price tag only rises so I would be hesitant to sign him to too big of a deal.
It is tough to determine who will fall to us because the Senior Bowl has not even taken place yet."Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn t work hard."

Re: Realistic Draft Pick and Free Agents/Needs
My top three guys I would like to see us add to the team this offseason are
1. Steve Hutchinson
2. Will Witherspoon
3. a young veteran SS (I don't know who is available that are SS)
Other then them just sign our own guys and draft a reliable RB or Chad Greenway in the first round.Minnesota Vikings : Simply the best

Re: Realistic Draft Pick and Free Agents/Needs
Still sounds like a lot of wants and preferences to me. I am trying to figure out what the Vikes may really look at. Someone must have some educated insight on how teams go into free agency and draft.
Alot of good scenarios though. But be REAL. What position ARE the Vikes going to address first?

Re: Realistic Draft Pick and Free Agents/Needs
I realistically think the Vikings are going to address our LB situation first through free agency. I am not going to get into who I would like to see brought in at MIKE, (although his name has been mentioned), but I believe that position is the biggest need we have in order to implement the Tampa 2.
Realistically - We are NOT going to trade Pep
Realistically - We are NOT going to trade Smoot
Realistically - Lendale White will NOT drop to #17 in the draft. If we do get a running back in the first round, I would be more apt to say we will pick up Maroney
Realistically - Speculating on the draft this early is silly anyway. We need to see how the free agency plays out first.Zeus wrote:
