    J. Lewis Cut.

    RAVENS CUT JAMAL

The Baltimore Ravens have cut running back Jamal Lewis, less than a year after he re-signed with the team as an unrestricted free agent.

Lewis was due to earn a $5 million roster bonus in March.
But the team isn't closing the door on a new deal.
"We are involved in negotiations with Jamal, and there has been good dialogue.
Jamal has been a significant contributor to us in the last seven seasons. It's our hope to have him back with the Ravens," G.M. Ozzie Newsome said, according to the team's official web site.

Lewis was the team's first-round draft pick in the 2000 season.
In 2003, Lewis rushed for 2,066 yards, and also set the single-game rushing record by churning up 295 yards against the Browns.

Lewis spent several months in jail after the 2004 season, due to an incident dating back to the summer before his rookie season.

Yes, but without a valid link.

There is more to PP.O than running in and posting articles.
Some people here have to realize that "hit and run" posting is not a good gig.

    Washed up?????? Hmmmmmm

2006 He ran for 1132 yards and played all 16 games.... Yep you're right
    all washed up.

He'd be no asset to the Vikes with the likes of Wendell Mathis, Joey
    Goodspeed, and other standouts.

If he was still so productive why did the Ravens throw him onto the scrap heap, when their biggest need in the offseason was a RB.

I have never been a fan of Lewis's and he has never been the same since his stint in th clink. We would be better off finding a younger change of pace back than to sign Lewis who has wire showing on the tires.

Hey look....... don't get your shorts in a bundle here.
    Re-Read my reply.

I said if he's Cheap and Healthy He'd make a great back up. I stand by
    that.

I think its silly to say a guy that contributed 1200 yards and played 16
    games
can't have value to us. He'd
    be excellent with Chester.

Not sure why he was dumped. Salary cap issues is my guess. But again,
Cheap and Healthy are the qualifiers here.
