Thread: Rate our draft by grade

I know you cant really tell how good a draft was untill about 3-5 years, but how do you think the vikings did this year?

Overall C+

B- C+ should be the grade. hard to judge because of only 5 picks, but what we did trade for in Allen was worth it. If you could the trade, maybe a B, but otherwise C+ is good enough for this class. I assume now that none of them will be starting, but some should see some time on the field. This is a wait and see draft. We addressed our needs, and now its just about staying healthy and getting ready for the season.

I love the Johnson pick, most people thought he was the best S in the draft, Speilman had him at 17 on his board and got him at 42.

The Booty pick is an amazing one, i love it, A+ to the FO on that one.

THe Guion pick kinda makes me scratch my head, i wouldnt have minded if we draft him if Carl Nicks was off the board, but he was there, and fell into our laps, and we passed on him. Its the only pick i dont like.

John Sullivan, a great pick in the 6th round, Birks replacement if he leaves next year.

Jaymar Johnson, looks like a solid return guy, he cuts so quickly, he might get Ferg cut, but id like to see Johnson make the team

Include Jared Allen in the consideration and this is atleat an A

Pretty low even though I am sure most will grade low because the staff didn't address percieved needs and in the percieved order.

I actually like the draft...

a.
JA A+ (fixes most pressing need for the same amount of picks the Jags moved up to draft a Rookie)
b.
STJ B+ (Provides a instant starter at S that can also play a big role on ST's)
c.
Booty B+ (About as NFL ready as a QB can be coming out of college.
Ran WCO in college. Nice project)
d. Sullivan A (Another nice prospect that looks to be a solution at C if Birk leaves/Mozes doesn't work out)
e. Jaymar Johnson C+ (Not sure of this pick. Fast kid that can give you some value on ST but not sure if he will make the roster.
Taken low enough that he might slip through to practice squad if he can't beat out Fergy)

Overall though I like the way Spielman moved up the board to get quality guys.
It appears taht Jaymar and maybe Sullivan are the only ones that won't make the team.

I think we did quite good.
I really wanted to see an OT though.

If you factor in how good the Allen trade really was afterall, we've been very successful.
Hopefully this will lead to an awesome season!

Said everything i was thinkin! but i would give the team a B+... and yeah i could really see ferg getting cut

Allen being our first rounder and signed B/B-, only Vikes, Fins, Browns, Eagles and Colts don't have to worry about 1st round holdouts

Like the player but not sure a Safety was the best pick at that point in the draft. Booty was a good pick up, Wish they could o0f picked up Okam who i was high on in that spot at DT. Or that we could of(Should of) picked up Hicks Sullivan was a good pick up but I think we should of had more.
Jaymar will get a chance at KR/PR a couple of others I liked better for that same role but he could have a chance
