Did they front load the contract and attempt a poison pill? Looks like another 3rd round pick is heading our way if that's true.

Re: Match Seahawks offer on Nate?

If it for 7 years, it has to have some kind of value, plus bonuses and incentives. I don't think the Vikes should match it if that is the case. We have K-Rob coming back, we still have Travis Taylor who is a very good RAC type of WR. Williamson, M-Rob. If it is a reasonable offer yes, if it is absurd, then no..

Re: Match Seahawks offer on Nate?

    This is from that blog:
Get this: My understanding is that the offer is a seven-year, $49 million deal with $5.25 million guaranteed and two hilarious poison pills guaranteeing the contract if he plays a certain number of games in the State of Minnesota, or if his average-per-year exceeds the average of the highest-paid running back on the team. The poison pills are obviously direct retribution for the contract Minnesota used to sign LG Steve Hutchinson from the Seahawks. Obviously this deal will be reworked after a few years, but they did what they had to do to make this look like the seven-year, $49 million offer the Vikings made to Hutchinson. I'll need to confirm these terms but that is the initial word.
This is Mike Sando's blog... not exactly the most reliable source of information. (For that matter, neither is ESPN's Clayton. Wasn't he the one that reported Daunte would be traded the first day of Free Agency...) And I doubt Burley would sign it if it was. This would almost definately go to arbitration and it would seriously hurt Nate's chances at signing a real contract that Minnesota might be inclined to match.

HA, HA, that is funny.. The seagulls are probably the most immature team in the NFL. Do they really think the Vikes are going to look at this as a slap in the face? Could you even compare the playmaking ability of Steve Hutchinson, to Nate Burleson? No way. If that is not a joke, then I say lets take the 3rd rd pick, and let Burly become a Seagull..

Wow, the StarTribune even reported it. 7-year, $49 million. What if we take this to the "Special Master" and he says that they have already signed him but do not have the right to renegotiate. That would be hilarious. They would have to cut him and just waste the 3rd round pick and $5,000,000.
