Thread: QBs beside McNabb

Okay let me start I hope the Vikings DO NOT get McNabb.

There is something about McNabb that just leads me to belive he is done.

Having said that what i really would like to know is why we don't hear other QBs beside McNabb.

Here is a list:

1. Billy Volek
2. Seneca Wallace
3. Marc Bugler
4. Vince Young
5. Sage Rosenfels (I know)
6. Bruce Gradkowski
7. Shaun Hill ( I know, but he had the Lions competing)
8. Matt Flynn
9. Caleb Hanie
10. Kevin Kolb
11. Dennis Dixon
12. Chris Redmen


Just a list I complied bottom line there are a lot more names I like then
McNabb.

Some of those guys have been mentioned. Others nobody wants.

Outside of Bulger none of those guys have done much.

All those guys minus bulger have throw for a combined total of:

McNabb has thrown for:
36250yds 230td 115int
Bulger
22814yds 122td 93int

McNabb has been around a long time and it is commonly believed that you could plug him in and he'd be your day one starter and leader.

I would throw:
Carson palmer(my top choice outside of rookies)
Matt Hasselback
Brett Favre
as possible starters for 2011.

Because he fits the profile of the QB's the Vikings historically bring in. I mean really. Look back 45 years and tell me how it would be any different than we have always done.:
I count 80 different starting QB's and many of them were ready to be put to pasture before they got here.

1. Billy Volek - Wouldn't mind bringing him in for a look but wouldn't put alot of eggs in that basket.
2. Seneca Wallace - Has had his chance to prove he was starter material. Way to inconsistent for my blood.
3. Marc Bugler - Interesting option that I like, but really offers no long term solution.
4. Vince Young - Yea right. TJ would be a better option than this guy IMHO. Atleast TJ has always presented himself as a true pro and team players. This guy is all about VY.
5. Sage Rosenfels (I know) - Puuuuuhhhhhlease. Again, would rather have TJ as TJ beat him out repeatedly.
6. Bruce Gradkowski - I wouldn't mind giving him a look. Same class as TJ and should finally be putting it all together.
7. Shaun Hill ( I know, but he had the Lions competing) - I don't know. Something just screams noooooooooo. Not sure why.
8. Matt Flynn - Other than the whole PUKER thing, I wouldn't mind taking a look.
9. Caleb Hanie - Who
10. Kevin Kolb - My number one guy right now. Long term solution and I think he is worth whatever we have to give up to get him. Should know the terminalogy (if Musgrove doesn't try to completely change everything) or should be able to pick up the changes along with everyone else who will be at the party late.
11. Dennis Dixon - Cmac would love him. His short starting career was impresive based on his experience. Might be a good fit.
12. Chris Redmen - Same as Hill.

The only one outside of McNabb i would really consider is Vince Young..

I like Bulger but he has been injured to much in his career for me to want to take a chance on him.

Vince Young to me is a winner, i think he has huge talent that is yet to me seen, but he needs to get his head straight and i don't know if thats possible.. Hopefully he will bounce back.

I'd rather have Dnabb that VY. Just don't see that kid getting over himself, of course, I said the same thing about Vick and I was completely wrong there.

Caleb Hanie is the Bears backup who came in during the playoff game against the Pack and played OK.

What about the thought that dfosterf has put up repeatedly that Graham Harrell who the Packers also picked up being a guy we look at? If he is showing a great deal of promise the Pack are going to be in a tough spot to try and keep Rodgers, Flynn, and Harrell. My guess is that they would move Flynn or Harrell.

Carson Palmer is my first choice but I just dont think that we will be able to land him.

Vince Young needs a fresh start badly. I think a new locker room would really embrace him and he'd embrace them.
Of those on the list he is the one most likely to be a franchise QB for someone.(throw kevin Kold in too, but I'm less sold on him).

I'd be in favor of Kolb for a 2012 2nd round pick but I think the asking price would end up being too high.
