Childress will seek improved play at the position -- from inside or out.

Brad Childress' end-of-the-season news conference Thursday made one thing abundantly clear about the Vikings quarterback situation: There again is little certainty about a position at which five players have started since Childress took over as coach in 2006.....

Vikings coach Brad Childress isn't going to rush any decisions on his starting quarterback for 2009.
"It's really kind of a whole offseason type of study," Childress said Thursday. "I'm not going to pass judgment right at this particular point. I think with everybody here in the organization, just like we always have, (the goal) is to turn over all the rocks and see what you have there."....

Whether it be through the draft, free agency or a trade, the Vikings figure to have a new starter under center when next season begins.

In regards to FA, if the Pats end up slapping a franchise tag on Cassell (as expected), our best bets (although old) would be either Garcia or Warner. Any of the others would not be able to get us where we want to go.
Just my opinion.
Re: QB stability tops Vikings coaching staff's priority list
with our spot
in draft there wont be a
win nowrookie qb,
ravens and
falconsgotlucky with
the maturityofp the wqbs they drafted or maybe they got real good coaching
As for Cassell
i think hes product of the
patriots and
not a
proven
qb.

excellent point - he fits the system and works well within it , which is no bad thing. Whereas we seem to think that we can just plug a QB in and expect them to drive the KAO with no problems. Given our showing this year then either we don't have the QB's that fit the KAO or the KAO is not all that it is cracked up to be. What concerns me is that after 3 years we are not sure that any Vikings QB has got past more than the first two pages of the playbook.

After watching the Vikings' playoff loss to the Eagles a week ago, you'd be well within your rights to wonder what, exactly, the Beloved Purple are going to do about the quarterback position for 2009.
Gus Frerotte, after this quote, probably isn't going to be back:
Re: QB stability tops Vikings coaching staff's priority list
It seems to me that any QB that has faced the Igglz the last few weeks has looked pretty feeble. Tarvaris struggled, but look how badly Eli struggled yesterday. I don't want any part of Farve, Garcia, or Warner, they aren't a fix, but just a stop gap, and watchin g Farve throw interception after interception it would boggle my mind if we signed him. Brady Q, or Anderson from the Browns might be someone to think about. Tarvaris has improved, and is showing the ability to lead us, and I think he'll remain our starter next season... Oh Yeah and
Dave Myers can bite my arzz.
