I don't care who they put back there, I just want someone who can catch the ball and not let it go over his head all the time.

The defense should pin them back deep on most plays (if Longwell can kick it deep enough) resulting in decent field position without a return.
Letting it go over thier head just will kill that effort and will just flat out piss me off.

Re: Punt returner remains up for the taking

Asked about the candidates to return punts, Ferraro said:

"I know Aundrae Allison can do it. He's caught everything he's been asked to catch. We haven't given him a lot of opportunities from a blocking standpoint when he's been in there. [Charles] Gordon did it all through college at a high level [at Kansas], so I know Chuck can give us those repetitions, and we know what Bobby Wade and Bernard Berrian can do
Hmmm... no mention of Jaymar by Ferraro.
Maybe you should have checked into this a bit Judd before putting your teaser line on the article.

I'm sure returning punts isn't real good for the knees either.

    This is a tricky situation!
    Here's my opinion:
Aundrae Allison has the speed, hands, quickness, agility and elusiveness to be a punt returner, but he lacks the vision. Plus, he was not a good punt returner in college (as I have heard).
Jaymar Johnson also has the speed and quickness to succed as a punt returner, but I'm not shure whether Johnson or Allison got the best tools (if I have to choose one, I'd go for Allison. I'm a big fan of him!). Jaymar seems to have the right mentality (I remember one good interview about playing special teams) and from what I've heard, he did pretty good returning punts in college.

Consequently: I think Jaymar should return punts (please God, don't make Wade return the punts another year!!!!!)

As for returning kicks, Allison should be our number one guy. He performed superb last year.

I don't think its looking good for Jaymar to make the final roster.
    Perhaps the practice squad.
The special teams coach discusses Allison and Gordon as the primary options with Wade and Berrian as other options.

In the end I think Allison will get the nod.
