Thread: Proposed 2006 Vikings Squad, Starters / Backups?

Hello new to purplepride, thought I would take a shot and create a topic after checking out this site since the Draft.

Viking fan since I was a kid in the 70's in Connecticut. Now I am in L.A.

Hey if Minn. won't do a stadium, Los Angeles is ready to go, but I digress.

Watched the whole (yes all 8 hours) ESPN draft and Tivo'd it, I think we did OK, I personally liked the T Jackson QB pick and the later picks, and of course Greenway.

I actually assembled right after the draft an Excel spreadsheet of Vikings drafts for the last 8-10 years, you'd be surprised, many picks did not pan out, but many have the last 2-3 drafts, Kevin Williams, etc.

I'll post the spreadsheet if you're interested, I have year, player, round-number, position, you make the call if he has become a solid Viking or if he is even in the NFL today?

Anyway, here's the point.

Who (as dedicated Viking fans) do you think will be the starting-backup players for the 2006 Vikings, in other words th Depth Roster as we see it today.

Is it me but especially in the last few weeks, it seems new players are coming from all over the place, new WR's, when did (RB) Taurean Henderson come?

It seems like we have some good depth (secondary) Griffin, Blue, and at RB, not sure about depth at QB (although I like T Jackson) or WR's, and who will be the starting MLB?

Taurean came in via Free Agency after the Draft.

I would be very interested in seeing your spreadsheet...great job on that!

I think the starting roster is pretty much set...except at MLB and maybe the #2 WR. As for backups, we should have decent depth across the board if some of the OL picks pan out.

Taurean Henderson is an intriguing talent who may pan out to be a great 3rd down back or maybe our version of Brian Westbrook, he was a great college player.

Notice, 2000 and 2001, nothing came of it, 2 total bust draft years (was this still Denny's reign).

But 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, not too bad, we'll see how 2006 rates?

I think that Dontarrious will be the starting MLB...AND Kleinsasser may be the starter at TE (mainly for rushing downs) with Wiggy coming in as the primary pass-catching TE...BUT the rest looks good.
