To me, bowl games don't mean jack unless it's for the national title, its more of a money grab "pretend" championship.
I consider the big games as games when Notre Dame plays teams like Michigan, LSU (happend to be a bowl game) and USC.
All of which they lost by a pretty big margin.

I was using "big" game to define games against other top teams in the nation.
Playing USC is a little bigger than playing Army.
    Not if you lose.
It probably looks a lot worse to lose to Army than USC.

You damn near have to win every game to make te National Championship, making every game a must-win situation.

the vikings should trade up to take Quinn, He could be the next michael vick.
    Dude, nobody wants Quinn.
Why in the world would we ever do that.
Besides the fact that alot of people think he is overrated, why in the world would you take him and he has noone to throw it to if you got him.
    Why would I take Quinn?

    * 2 years sitting and learning at the knee of the 3-time Super Bowl-winning OC
    * 4 years starting for one of the top programs in the nation
    * 4 years of playing in the hottest spotlight for a QB in college football
    * Stats, wins and all that

What people fail to take into account while babbling about "big games" is the fact that the Notre Dame game IS the big game to many of the schools which play ND.
Don't you think that Purdue is more up for a game with ND than, say, Northwestern?

If Quinn is available at #7 and the Vikings pass, then I might be ready to call the Pentagon of Power of bunch of idjuts.

    I respectfully disagree.
Every week is a "big game" for ND simply because of who they are.

I see your point Zeus, and I do agree with you, but they are expected to beat those other teams as well.
When it came to the games against the more successful top teir teams they got railed.

But hey, he did beat the teams that he was supposed to so that would be an improvement.

And you can't pin all of the blame for the losses on Quinn.
Michigan had one of the top-rated defenses last season (as an example), so the ND defense needed to stop the Michigan offense for them to have a chance - and they did not.

    Why take Quinn?
He is an upgrade at the most important skill position on the team.

    Got any more easy questions?
okay, upgrade over who, and why is that an upgrade?
all we know about quinn is that he put up good numbers on the college level.
alot of qb's have done that and stunk at the nfl level.

i only ask cuz you think he's an upgrade and i dont, and the vikes need obvious upgrades at other positions so is it worth it?
will quinn be the next peyton manning?
my feeling is no, but that's not my job.
so it's weighing whats more important not that cut and dry

Re: Possible trade for number one pick?

If it came down to Quinn or trading down for more picks I would trade. Hey may be great, he may suck no one knows because honestly nothing he did in college matters, but our team needs help all over and if we do not win soon our fickle fan base is going to run Childress out of town and we will be back to square one.

I think if you draft Quinn you are committing to a few more years of pain, not because of him but our other needs we may fail to meet.

That being said no one trades high end picks anymore. Every year we hear it, every year people act like it is possible.....it isn't going to happen. Maybe a #1 moves to a #3 or even a #1 and #2 exchange picks and throw in a 6th rounder......lol......but not very often does someone do something crazy like sell the farm and fly up the charts.
If you promise to be smarter, I will promise to be nicer.

My posts are worth 6 of yours.
