There's no way Martz is going to take an offensive coordinator job. There are teams out there that are interested in him as a head coach, and he will be someone's head coach next year.mike martz better be the first guy we bring in to interview for the offensive co-ordinator spot..wilf should get him signed and not let whoever he hires as head coach choose his own offensive co-ordinator..martz is an absolute offensive genius, and if we dont give him serious consideration for that position, then we arent very serious about which direction we're going with this team..we gotta go out and get the absolute best group of coaches together, the best possible to fill in at all the positions

With that being said, Martz would look like the best candidate.Martz could definitely be in mind ... he was officially fired today, but he has been done in St. Louis since the sixth week of the season ... and was even green-lighted to talk to teams ... though he couldn't talk to NFL teams due to NFL rules until the season was over he was given the okay to talk to college teams ... he definitely has been on the market and could be someone that Zygi has in mind.
By the way you failed to mention that both Martz and Fassel have been to the Super Bowl.
I definetely am dead set against Fassel, but with his ties to the Giants & Wilfs love for his Giants, Wilf will give him deep consideration.

I agree, Singer. There won't be a bright future if they bring Fassel in. IMO."PurpleMafia" wrote:

Tim Lewis-- [Giants Defensive Coordinator]
Kirk Ferentz-- [Iowa University Head Coach]
Mike Singletary-- [49ers Assistant Coach and LB coach]
Mike Martz??-- [Former Rams Head Coach]
From these two lists most of them haven't aren't even HC's and are all a risk at that position, just as Tice was.
Candidates list
Potential Vikings head-coaching candidates listed alphabetically:
Cam Cameron, offensive coordinator, San Diego Chargers
Brad Childress, offensive coordinator, Philadelphia Eagles
Ted Cottrell, defensive coordinator, Vikings
Jim Fassel, offensive coordinator, Baltimore Ravens
Kirk Ferentz, head coach, University of Iowa
Jerry Gray, defensive coordinator, Buffalo Bills
Russ Grimm, offensive line coach, Pittsburgh Steelers
Gary Kubiak, offensive coordinator, Denver Broncos
Tim Lewis, defensive coordinator, New York Giants
Ron Rivera, defensive coordinator, Chicago Bears
Jim Schwartz, defensive coordinator, Tennessee Titans
Gregg Williams, defensive coordinator, Washington Redskins
If we look at only the HC available from this list, here's what's left;
Mike Martz (HC record: 54-33) 3 winning season, 2 losing seasons, 1 8-8 season, 3 playoff seasons (3-4)
Jim Fassel (58-53-1) 3 winning season, 3 losing seasons, 1 8-8 season, 3 playoff seasons 2-3
I don't think Zygi had Martz in mind, since his firing came after Tice's.
Zygi stated he will bring in a "big name" head coach before Martz was fired & right now Fassel (New yorker) is looking to me like that's who he had in mind.
Doesn't look like a bright future to me right now.
We would be going from a players coach to a whiney, prissy pants, shorts in a perpetual knot coach who might destroy the team moral.
Not to mention the 'wow' factor he hasn't produced as the Raven's OC. LOL

Re: Possible Future Coaches List
I think that if will depend on who we get for our "GM" If we get the eagles Gm then I bet we hire Childress as coach. If we hire the broncos GM then I bet we hire Kubiak. I read in the StarTrib. that Wilf wants to hire a big name with lots of exp. The only one's with alot of exp..are Kubiak, Childress, Fassel, Williams. Although I would not be surprised if we hired Rivera or Ferentz.. Thats just my thoughts!

Re: Possible Future Coaches List
Kubiak was interviewed when the Texan came into the league, and they are going to interview him again this week. It is highly likely that they hire him in Houston.
It is rumored on NFL TA that the Pack will look at Ferentz also.

Re: Possible Future Coaches List
As of now, I am preatty neutral on almost every canidate, execept Martz. I can't stand Martz. I do agree he is a great offensive mind, but doesnt know how to manage games. I dont think he is a great fit for this team either. He is better suited for a vikings team like 2 years ago. If he would be coach, I think he would pass the ball 40+ times a game, and want to win in shootouts, which I feel is not our best chance at winning.
I would like to look at Kubiak though. He has been the offensive cordinator that have produced multiple 1000 yards backs, a 2000 yard back, and lead the team to 2 superbowl victories.Make love to the present, fuck the past

Re: Possible Future Coaches List
What a year to be an assistant in the NFL!!!
What a bad year to be looking for a coach!!!!!
There are 7 possibly 8 vacancies to fill this year.
Some of the firees will get another chance and some no names will get hired.
Wow, how things change!!!

Re: Possible Future Coaches List
There are alot of different openings, but if you were a coach who would you go to?
Packers- coaching farves last year would be fun, but he may not stay, and the rest of the team is awful
Texans- have hope with reggie bush, but that only hope...
Rams- have talent, but comming off a losing season
Saints- coaching a team that is very disfunctional would not be fun
Chiefs- just missed out on the playoffs, and has a future behind larry johnson
Vikings- just missed out on the playoffs, and won 7 or last 9. lots of cap room and a owner willing to spend.Make love to the present, fuck the past

Re: Possible Future Coaches List
Rivera
Cameron
Childress
or
Mariucci
Those would be my choices, not in any particular order. Although I will say that I'd be really happy if we went with Mariucci. He has experience, ability and he would be good with the players.
