That would give us 3 DEs with a combined 3 years of experience going in to the season, another who hasn't played a full season in a while. Seems like a big risk to me. I would rather have a veteran who can be part of the rotation if not start outright, just for the sake of adding experience at DE. We still are missing Lance Johnstone.

Haha. Isn't that what we did with Wade and Shiancoe last year?

Also, drafting a DE high means we will pay him top dollar. It doesn't mean he will be anything more than average.

Drafting may best our best chance to find a double-digit sack artist, But I think if the top 3 DEs are gone when we draft, adding a vet backup is the better option.

Sure, but they aren't guaranteed to be there. You have to draw a line. You can't just say get the best DE available or else you might miss out on talent elsewhere.

I wouldn't be opposed to try and get Taylor, but the rumored asking price (2nd rounder etc.) would be too much for a player who likely only has a couple good seasons left in him.

Still, if we could trade a 3rd rounder or less for him I'd be down as he would instantly upgrade our pass rush considerably.

We've made great pick-ups in FA so far, and with patience could still find a Vet at DE, As much as I hate to see Tony R go, Tapeh is younger and has lead Eagles B. Westbrook with a career-best 1,333 yards rushing behind this guy last year as well as 1,200 yards the year before." Berrian gives us a guy that will draw double coverage, Madieu W, is a play maker already familiar with Frazier's system, and that Hicks will be a special team monster. Whatever we don't find in FA will be addresessed with the draft. I love the aggressive effort we've come out with getting the guys we need.

.....as the fourth day of NFL free agency begins today, it remains unclear whether the team is going to find any help at defensive end on the open market...
