I find that conversation particularly interesting, as it goes against Marrdro's theory that Chilly isn't involved with personel signings."marstc09" wrote:

The most likely place for Cassell to land is with KC.
Their new GM know Cassell, has the money and the draft picks, and will be able to pull the trade off if he wishes to. Much of that hinges on whether the new coach develops a relationship with Thigpen quickly and whether they feel they can plan around his skills.
Three things on that.....
1.
It seems Pioli parted ways on good terms.
Don't see much anomosity there.
2.
KC is in the same league as the Pats.
Might cause the Pats to hesitate a bit when working a trade/deal.
3.
The Vikes pissed them off over the Mills deal.
If we can work a deal I am sure they are gonna get a bit of retribution if at all possible......
Long story short, I wouldn't be apposed to young Matt wearing a Vikes uniform if the cost isnt' to great, however, ..........
Lets not forget how the Sage stuff caught us unaware. My guess is Ricky boy is working a deal with another team that none of us are even aware of.
but cassel to the chiefs does seem to be the likely choice

Ahhhhh another wayward soul.......
I have never once said he isn't involved.
I only point out to people who think that the Chiller does it all by himself that there is a FO (Scouts, Docs, Contracts, etc) involved as well.
Truth be told those guys/gals were probably in the process of getting Mills resulting in the HC to HC discussion......
I have never seen any write that Childress does it all by himself just like you say you never once said he isn't involved.
People never explicitly say Childless does it by himself but many many people implicitly say it when they utter drivel about fire childress after the draft or in response to FA moves.
You can't make that assumption.
Its not an assumption! If someone says fire childress in regards to a FA signing, then they obviously think Childress is the one in charge. Otherwise, they would say something about the front office and include Chilly if they so choose.
It is an assumption. Most people joke when they say stuff like that.
Are you kidding me?
Back when the Vikings signed Bobby Wade and Visanthe Shiancoe, people were pissed that was all we were getting, there were hoards of people laying the blame squarely on Chilly's shoulders for a free agent signing. It was absolutely ridiculous.

link?
Fire Childress.

Re: Please remember this when exhibiting man-love for Matt Cassell...
Man that was years ago and this site's search function does not work. You must have a really bad memory if you can't remember at least one person blaming Childress for things the entire front office is responsible for.
Just to clarify, I'm talking about people who say fire childress in regards to FA signings and the draft.. not just people who say fire childress because in inadequate coaching."There is good and there is evil. And evil must be punished. Even in the face of Armageddon I will not compromise."

UNCAPPED YEAR WON’T HAVE MUCH OF AN EFFECT ON CASSEL

That said, look for the Pats to sign Cassel to a multi-year deal, or trade him to a new team.

uncapped year is next year and it won't affect us bc all our free agents next year are older guys that their second term contracts are going to be up... so it only affects those players that do not have more than 6 accrued years in the league, all other free agents will be restricted... aside from that, we can spend tons of money (highly unlikely) on guys who are going to be unrestricted...How is this uncapped year gonna effect us?
look for us to possibly sign Winfield with this provision, barring a deal not getting done!
