Phil Loadholt is visiting the Vikings today

    http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/...t-heads-north/

"The All-Big 12 selection started at left tackle for the Sooners for the past two seasons, but could also play right tackle in the NFL."

If he's still around in the 2nd round, excellent choice for RT..

I kindof thought he would be a good fit in the second, however, I don't believe he will be available for us then.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Aren't we doing the mass rookie visit again?
    Is that today?
Or, do we just have a few seperate visits lined up?

I was big on Loadholt for awhile too, but IDK, he sounds a lot like what we got, Big and Strong in the run game, but Big and slow vs. pass rush...?
Control the line, control the time, and give your D a chance to shine!!

I did read someplace that they were gonna bring the rest of them in sometime soon.
Not sure why they waited so long. :

I think Tackle is a serious need for us and I'm hoping to get one this upcoming draft. I'm not getting my hopes to high though, the way I see it and how we draft there will be better players on the baord than the Tackles left over. Tackles shoot off the board and by the time we draft its diminished. The only way I see us getting a Tackle early is if someone is passed on that we think highly of.

Yeah, I was forwarding his name around to friends right after the season ended, based mostly on his freakish physical stats and the belief that he would be available to us in the 2nd...
But I have since backed off of that a little, having not really seen him play much.
I agree that it's tempting and potentially dangerous to lock in on a run-block monster if he can't excel at both aspects...
but the other part of my brain keeps whispering to me that 'he's so damn huge screw it we can teach the beast to pass-block'... I wonder if there are any pre-existing examples in the NFL of guys with great physical talent who weren't able to be coached to greatness...

i love this guy! I know i'm biased since i'm an Oklahoma freak, but i know he has the potential to be a great tackle. I like his versitility to play left or right tackle. He def can run block! he'll learn to be better at pass blocking (hopefully).

    Pick him up!

thank you Josdin00 for the amazing sig!

    and yes... that just happened!

    Slow feet on pass rush.
DE's will run around him unless he coordinates them better.
He's still got some growing to do as he's young, not sure if it'll be his feet and quickness that improves, perhaps.
He would be a monster on the run though... really pushes the pile.

Checkout his performance against Orakpo in the OU/Texas game to see how he does against NFL-ready DE's.

His size and potential is definately an upside... The Vikes have done VERY well getting players out of the Big 12 and i say stay that route.

    //but he's still a stinking sooner!

Orakpo got to Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford twice in Texas’ 45-35 win. Showing his speed as well as his power, Orakpo lined up way outside of the Sooners’ best offensive lineman, 6-foot-8, 337-pound tackle Phil Loadholt.

Orakpo had met Loadholt over the summer at the Playboy All-American weekend and was stunned by his size when they hung out at the pool.

On the field, Loadholt struggled to match Orakpo’s speed, and even when he could, Orakpo would be at full speed for the collision.
