Why are so many people so hung up on Pat White?? I look at him and see another Tjack, and all people do is b!tch about Tjack. It's not adding up people.
* Failed at a D-1 school
* Had middling success at a D1-AA school.
* Seems to get hurt on every scramble.
Pat -
* Only QB in NCAA history to QB four bowl wins.
--
* Leading rusher in NCAA history for a QB.
Slightly different, IMHO.
Damn cheese has FUCKED UP YOUR MIND!
Leading rusher for QB in NCAA history translates to absolutely nothing in the NFL.
Yes the cheese has messed me up right along with all these dang cheeseheads, but I still don't see a reason to get excited about this guy. Besides, if we want to run, let's just give AD the d@mn ball more!!
Finished ranked #23.
Bowl:
Beat UNC 31-30.
Regular season:
Beat Rutgers, Auburn, Louisville and South Florida
2007:
Finished ranked #6.
Bowl:
Beat Oklahoma (then ranked #3) 48-28.
Regular season:
Beat Maryland, South Florida, Mississippi State and Rutgers.
2006:
Finished ranked #10.
Bowl:
Beat Georgia Tech 38-35.
Regular season:
Beat Maryland, Mississippi State, Louisville (ranked #5) and Pitt.
2005:
Finished ranked #5.
Bowl:
Beat Georgia (then ranked #8) 38-35.
Regular season:
Beat Maryland, Rutgers, Louisville (ranked #19) and Pitt.
Clearly, you have not much of a clue about how good WVU was with Pat White at the helm.
Can the guy throw? He played in an offense that I believe is not that pertinent in the NFL and he beat up weak college teams for the most part.
I understand the guy had success, good for him but there has been a ton of guys that have done the exact same thing (Akili Smith, Tim Couch, David Klingler, Vince Young, Jason White, and the list goes on and on) and turned out to be nothing.
Beating the #8 team in the country does nothing for you?
Neither Akili Smith, Tim Couch or David Klingler did ANYTHING like that.
And what I am proposing is NOT drafting Pat White to be the Vikings' QB.
That man is Sage Rosenfels.
I'm drafting him to be a slash-type player.
QB/RB/WR/Wildcat specialist.
The beauty of him in that position is that he really CAN throw the ball, unlike, say, using Chester Taylor in a dual-backfield, no QB role.
and Vince Young beat the #1 team in the country and gave them their first loss in how many seasons?
So - you would not have drafted Vince Young in that spot?
You're not allowed to know anything but what you would have known at the time.
C'mon, smart guy, make an argument that makes any sense.
He used the exact same argument you did... but instead used a HIGHER ranked team (assuming #1 is ranked higher than #3 or #8)... then you tell him to make an argument that "Makes any sense..."
Hilarious.
No - he used the career of Vince Young in the NFL AFTER he was drafted as proof that his college experience was poopoo.
Neither you nor I nor anyone else has any insight into what will happen in the future.
I happen to believe that Pat White is a good option for a team that is willing to get creative with their offense.
He's not going to step in on Day 1 and be the Vikings' starter and lead them to the playoffs.
Never said he would.
=Z=
no, i made the point that if someone beat a team ranked # 3 or #8 or even #1, it means jack shit.
You can't use that as an argument of determining how good a player will be.

Appears to me he was simply answering the question asked.“What takes a quarterback to the next level is not arm strength or mobility or any of that stuff. It’s the ability to play on critical downs. Manage third downs, or red zones or four-minute or two-minute situations"

Vince Young was ROY, before his meltdown.
I don't think anybody is expecting Pat White to come in here and be a franchise QB.
Just an offensive weapon that could provide some extra versatility immediately and possibly be a quality backup QB.
Needs to be round 3 or later though for my liking though.
