Re: Percy Harvin

Thats why we should attempt to trade back.
I'd totally take an early 2nd this year and a team's 2nd next year for our first.
Or, a teams 2 and 3 for our 1st.
We can snag a top WR early in round2 and still get a decent RT option at #54.
In the third we could upgrade our QB depth, and then we need to come up with a 4th round pick to snag Quinn Johnson at FB. Dream draft:

1.
(possibly not in the first round) Harvin or Britt
2.
Max Unger or TJ Lang or Jamon Meredith
3.
Pat White or Graham Harrell
4.
Quinn Johnson

Harvin and Quinn could both provide RB depth.
White might provide some WR depth.
Unger or Lang would be multiple OL position depth, and way more athletic options at RT...in case, you know, we want to try and mix some
pass blocking in with our run blocking someday.
Control the line, control the time, and give your D a chance to shine!!

I'm reposting this cuz nobody bit but it seems obviously true to me.
Most folks like to rip Jackson's accuracy, but really, how many wide open deep balls did Williamson drop?
How many drops have Shank and Berrian worked their way past?
Wade is our 2 or 3 year leader in receptions and yet, he's guilty of a few too many too.
Who threw most of those balls?

It goes both ways, they make each other look good or bad.
IF our WRs had caught half of the balls that bounced off of their hands, TJack would easily have over a 60% completion percentage.
The wild ones that stick in your head should often be the ones you forget about, cuz there's a chance that the WR ran the wrong route, that he was hit as he threw, in that one DET game he was just tossing it up, etc etc.
I don't think accuracy is the whole problem.
I think it has more to do with confidence in himself and in the rest of the offensive team to hold up their ends of the bargain.

To me the WR question has nothing to do with size, the questions are, Can He Get Open?
And, Can WE Rely on Him to Catch the gol 'darnit ball?
So, to me, Kenny Britt and Harvin are both excellent options.
Harvin didn't seem like a dimwit in the interview, actually, I thought he seemed like a nice, hard working kid.
But, if there's truth to these rumors, he's probably on our growing No-No list.
Then again, with the improved vet atmosphere we have in the locker room, maybe they will take a chance on him, if he says the right things.
Kid is an explosive playmaker, plain and simple.

Very good points you've just made.

I think TJack might be very, very good.
I am just getting impatient.

Harvin stock dropping?

April 12th, 2009 – 11:40 AM by Chip Scoggins

Wanted to mention a few items before spending some time with the family. The Palm Beach Post has a story today that says Florida receiver Percy Harvin’s stock is dropping because of a report that he failed a drug test as well as other off-the-field issues. Here is the story.

Rumors about drugs, poor tests or attitudes, even if false, can cause a player's NFL Draft stock to take a big hit

Twenty years later, the rumors are swirling around another Gators' star and there's nothing Harvin can do about it.

First there was the reported score of 12 out of 50 on Harvin's Wonderlic test in February, which measures quick thinking and basic problem solving. Then NFLDraftBible.com reported 10 days ago that Harvin and three other players tested positive for marijuana at February's NFL Combine in Indianapolis, though no other outlet has confirmed the report.

Thanks for the reads Mike....

Combine them with Harvin's frequent run-ins with authorities as a high school star in the Virginia Beach area, which resulted in him being removed from high school sports altogether, and suddenly Harvin has gone from a top-10 pick to maybe slipping to the second round.
LOL, I completely forgot about that incident(s)......

Nicks is probably a better fit anyways.

I still like Harvin, especially how he fits both in the RB and WR slot which makes alot of sense for us.

I got Nicks penciled in at 22 but I am not sure who leaves when he gets on the roster.....

Wide Receivers (7-5)

1. Bernard Berrian WR (Starter)
2. Sidney Rice WR (Starter)
3. Bobby Wade WR (Starter/Backup)
4. Glenn Holt (Backup)
4. Aundrae Allison WR (Backup)
5. Hakeem Nicks WR (Backup)
Darius Reynaud WR (PS)
Jaymar Johnson WR (PS)

No way we use a number one pick on a guy and move him to the PS.
DR and JJ would probably slip to the PS.
That leaves AA or Holt fighting for the spot.

Keep 5 WRs. We need Holt for ST. If not get rid of Allison. Never cared for him anyways.

I think Hakeem Nicks would jump to #3 or possibly #2 on that list.

A first round WR is expected to be somewhat productive his first year... I don't think that would happen as our #5 WR.

You've been around here long enough to know that the WCO doesn't use the number system for its recievers.
Those numbers are there just as a benchmark to show what 5 would make the roster, not which one would be the Z, X, Y, Slot,
Flanker, or Wing.

You have them listed as Starters and Backups... I'm saying Nicks could bypass Rice or Wade and become a starter.
