Gaffney and Washington have some talent.
I think those are two who will be out the door and could assist our receiving corps. Remember, Washington played behind CJ, Houz and C. Henry the past two years - argueably the best WR corps in the league talent wise.
Their experience could help us if they can adjust to our offense quickly.

2 of my Florida boys could be on the chopping block.I'd say I would give the nod to Jackson as far potential upside. However if your looking for the sure bet of the two, Gaffney is your man.I have been a fan of him since he came on the scene for the gators. He has decent hands and decent speed.Jackson is more physical, and less all around explosive. However he has great hands.

Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

Or it could mean any success or talent shown by Washington was because why worrys about a #4 reciever when you got Ocho Cinco, TJ WhosYourMomma and Chris Henry on the feild (arguably the best reciever corp in the league)

Yes, Cincy has a good WR group.
Now the Pats do as well.
Gaffney isn't bad but I don't think he will be cut for the fact what was said earlier.
Brady likes to go to him.
Washington did back up a great group and Welker has too much value in my opinion.
Welker may never light up the stats but it's the little things he does that make him valuble as I mentioned earlier.

    Re: Pats Leftover WR's

    No way Welker is released!
They gave up a 2nd round pick IN DIVISION for him!!
He is their return guy at least!!

Maybe somebody got their names crossed, I'm seeing only 11 receptions/1TD for Gaffney last year!
Reche Caldwell is who had 61...and 3 more TDs than Gaffney too.

I was all for Jackson coming out, but so far he has been injured.
He missed most of TC and preseason with a Hamstring problem and then blew his ACL...he did somehow come up with 3TDs on only 13 recpts though.
I'm guessing since he's a 2nd round pick, its too early to cut him...we'd have to trade for a potentially injured guy.

Jackson, a second-round pick from Florida in 2006, had a disappointing rookie season. He only had 13 catches for 152 yards and three touchdowns last year. He also is coming off a torn ACL, so his availability for the start of the season remains in doubt. And with the additions of Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker, Jackson's Fantasy value takes a hit. He is not worth drafting at this time, but he is worth keeping an eye on to see if his sophomore season improves from his disappointing start. (Updated 6/13/07)

    FANTASY ANALYSIS
Jackson is a candidate for the PUP list, which would knock off at least six games from his 2007 season...

Brown's versatility is too valuable to let walk.
Personally, I'd sign him in a second, probably for way more than he'd contribute on field, but the leadership!!
The others that don't make it (or on ST) don't look like the kind of guys who would really be above our youthful, unproven talent...especially with the whole WR this year = LB last year comment.

Although, it would be kind of funny if Bam Childress ended up with us ;D

    Re: Pats Leftover WR's

Moss, Welker, and Stallworth have zero chance of being cut.
Jackson was a high pick last year, and they would be foolish to a cut a WR after his rookie season.
Washington has a high chance of staying.

As far as Gaffney, Caldwell or the rest, none are very impressive or much of an improvement on what we have.

    Re: Pats Leftover WR's

    Lets take another approach here.

Starting point is that they will keep 6 (Moss, Stallworth, Brown, Welker, Caldwell, and Jackson) Just like we will probably keep 6 (My guess Williamson, Wade, McMullen, Rice, Carter, Nance).

Now that leaves Allison, Hankton and Williams.
Both Nance and Carter have shown potential.
McMullen is a possesion kindof guy that fits the scheme. Allison/Williams are projects that will contribute in a couple of years or sooner on special teams.

Gonna make a guess here and say that if any of these three make the team Nance, Carter, McMullen in that order go (Probably Nance) but that is a tough call.

Now lets talk about the Pats leftover's.
Which if any would you take over what we have left and again, who goes.

With the thought process that this staff is taking of building through the draft, letting the young guys play and growing talent from within............

I'm of the mind along with ejmat that I think that the staff is happy with what they have.

Not alot of instant gratification there for the guys that want to get to the SB this year, however............ ;D

Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg
