Re: Panthers potential cap hits...
They will mostly restructure...especially with the DTs...good DTs are very hard to come by...which is why I am so thankful that we have the Williams Bros.
Re: Panthers potential cap hits...
If I am not mistaken, didn't we have an interest in Ken Lucas the past couple of years? At this point, the Vikes will look at anyone from any team to help ours out..
Re: Panthers potential cap hits...
Lucas plays nickel for them this year doesn't he.
That wouldn't be a bad addition at all.

I believe he does play nickel for them... He would be a great addition for our nickel spot, and could fill in the starter spot in the case Cedric Griffin can't stay healthy.. Also, what are the chances that we keep Roynell Whitaker for the nickel spot? Not great in my eyes.. Plus, we will have Devonte Edwards coming back next season..
Re: Panthers potential cap hits...
Whoa those are some big names on that list except for Kemoeatu he basically was brought in as an insurance policy for Jenkins always being hurt or lost for the season. thats crazy. and Ken Lucas would be a gigantic upgrade over the "poor man's Ronde Barber".

Re: Panthers potential cap hits...
If we could pick up Lucas, he would probably compete with Griffin for the nickel spot.
Edwards and Winfield would be starting.
Whitaker might see some time at dime, but would probably primarily work with the scout squad.
That would be a fine CB corps IMHO.
Of course, this is assuming that Smoot is traded this season, and that isn't a guarantee either.
Re: Panthers potential cap hits...
Why would Dovonte be the #2 guy? He has almost no experience.
Re: Panthers potential cap hits...
If he beat out Cedric Griffin, there was very tight contest for the nicklespot up until Dovonte broke his arm in TC, between these two
Re: Panthers potential cap hits...
it was a contest between dovonte and griffin in PRESEASON, griffin got game experience and would put dovonte to shame now.
if they don't get rid of smoot, i expect to see winfield and griffin starting, with smoot as nickle and edwards as dime. if smoot goes then edwards goes to nickle
