Must be the coaches or scheme holding him back."Marrdro" wrote:
I scratch my head on him as well. When we drafted him & he played in preseason, he looked like he'd be a gol 'darnit good player, but I haven't seen him play that well since.I liked the pick and I like how he performed when Whinny went down.
Now, not so much.
I almost put "cut" next to his name in my roster analysis the other day.
He, and a couple of others, have me scratching my head a bit and are holding me back from posting my final product.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: An opportunity for McCauley
Marcus needs to bulk up and learn to play in the slot if he's going to make the 53 this year. He didn't improve over last off-season so I don't see it happening this year. I think you would have been safe to put 'cut' beside his name Marrdro.

I wonder though, seems the coaches are giving him reps with the first team.
Can that be considered a indicator that the coaching staff haven't given up on him or is it an indicator that they are giving him his last chance......
As of right now, I am leaning towards the first option.
Call it a gut feeling. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

From what I understand he can only play first team. By that I mean he plays on the outside only. We're not going to move AW inside on the nickel and dime, we tried that, and he's definitely not going to beat out AW or Griffin for their starting role. Imo he needs to man up & learn to play inside, or he's going to be cut in favor of Sapp or Paymah."jessejames09" wrote:

I hear ya, but think bigger picture here........Maybe, just maybe a "Outside" position opens up next year....."Marrdro" wrote:

Ouch, getting cut in favor of Sapp is pretty harsh."Marrdro" wrote:

I agree on your comments that Macauley is an outside corner.
He was brought in to challenge or eventually take over one of the starting corner spots.
He appears to be digressing and I'm sure he is under close scrutiny to show he belongs on the team.
I would not be surprised either if he gets cut this year.
Personally, I don't think he will do well as a nickel and needs to show that he is the best option to fill in for AW or Griff should one of them get hurt.

Re: An opportunity for McCauley
I think if we cut him it's gonna be the kick in the ass he needs, another team will sign him, and he'll play to potential.
