Re: The "Official" Vikings Draft Day Thread - Day 1

Well...the Vikes didn't do what I would have done, but I don't think you can say that we didn't get better today.

I would have taken Quinn at #7 or traded down and hpped he was there in the mid-teens.

Instead, the Vikes opted for A. Peterson. His health scares the bejeezus out of me, I'm not going to lie, and I was disappointed that we picked him instead of trading out and filling another need. He could end up being a great back for us though, and if he STAYS HEALTHY he and Chester will be a good 1-2 punch.

I love the Rice pick. IMO, he was the best receiver on the board at that point. He's a gamebreaker with great size and good speed. Plus, he's a little immature only being a jr., and I think he could end up being pretty dern good.

I like the pick at corner in the third round. We need a strong nickel or dime back and I definately do not think this was a wasted pick.

I am happy overall with the draft so far, and I think we are getting better and better. I'd still like to see another receiver and a defensive lineman or two drafted.

Don't forget on D we will be getting back Greenway, James and Udeze hopefully healthy all year long!

I get the most pissed off looks from people with my VKG 4 LFE Wisconsin license plate, and I LOVE IT!!

It's easy for us to say that we should have traded out of #7, but who wanted to trade up to it? Miami didn't want to move up (as they didn't want Quinn) and the only teams the Vikings talked to was the Browns, which would have had us going at #3!

I like pick of Peterson. I'll be the first to admit that I didn't want us to pick him when talking about the draft last week, purely because I wanted everything to fall in place for us and have a situation where the Best Player Available was also our biggest need. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. (No, I don't believe QB is a big need for us. Sure we could improve at QB, but drafting someone like Quinn invites a LOT of pressure that I don't think Childress desires.)

I'm ok with the Peterson and Rice pick but would have liked us to have maybe looked at a right side OT in the third as that does need strenghtening. Still so far one of the better draft weekends that the Vikes have had, hopefully Day 2 continues in the same vein.
Time spent annoying a Packer fan is never time wasted...

I think they are pretty cool with Ryan Cook as the starting right tackle, there are still some right guards out there.. so its not over yet.. But they just need to give Marcus Johnson another shot at that guard position..

I forgot his name right now, but I do know he is a big TE and was a playmaker for the Gophers! We need a TE correct?

You mean Shianco? Ciurciu is the linebacker.
