    Odom in FA?

I think we should take a look at Antwan for sure.....

    Word is ...

Tennesee Titans Pair of DEs ready to take the plunge Feb. 27: Titans defensive ends Antwan Odom and Travis LaBoy appear ready to test the waters in free agency. The Tennessean reported Wednesday that Odom and LaBoy -- both expected to become unrestricted free agents on Friday -- and their respective agents have indicated that the players and the team are far apart in terms of negotiating a new contract. "The difference in what the Titans are offering and what the market is dictating, it is a lot different," said C.J. LaBoy, who represents his brother. "I wouldn't be surprised if the Titans don't have either of them back next year."

    Re: Odom in FA?

I was listening to Sirius NFL yesterday and Pat Kirwan was saying Odom might get overlooked by some teams as his success last year could be credited more to how well Haynesworth played, but he went on to say if Odom went to the Vikings and got to play next to the Williams wall, Odom wouldn't see a double teams all season and would have a great season.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in purple.
He has decent speed and is stout against the run.
He would be an ideal replacment for Udeze but not what we are looking for in terms of speed at RDE.

Well lucky for us LDE is on our shopping list so his speed wouldn't be an issue.

    Re: Odom in FA?

I'm probably alone on this, but I don't want him. Before this year, he never managed to get more than 2 sacks. Also, this year he only had 21 tackles, that tells me he isn't an every down type of player. The reason he got so many sacks was because the rest of Tennessee's defensive line was so dominant, that Odom was pretty much able to run free on single coverage every down.

I would much rather have a proven veteran like Justin Smith, who has been productive even on one of the worst defenses over the past several years.

What i meant with that comment is that with the money required to get him here, we will still not have addressed our more glaring need which is speed off the edge (preferably the right side/QB's blind side)
If we need to throw out a 30 million dollar deal with 15 guaranteed i would rather it be on a pure speed rusher off the right side.
Unfortunately there isn't a FA on the market that is a great fit.
I'm sure Odom could come in and do well, but he will not be the cure-all for our lack of pass rush.

And if you doubt he would command that kind of money, look at the contract Dewayne White signed with Detroit last year.
He was more of an unknown than Odom which would lead me to believe Odom will get even more.

If Odom is around after a week of free agency i could see us making a run at him, but he should not be signed in the first wave, where the overspending usually happens.
