NY Jets expected to trade Pro Bowl DE John Abraham!!

Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News writes in todayÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s issue of the newspaper the New York Jets are expected to place the franchise tag on defensive end John Abraham and trade him prior to the draft.

The franchise tender offer for a defensive end this year is $8.3 million.
Teams can place the franchise tag on players from February 9th through 23rd. This past season Abraham reported to the Jets on August 29th after refusing to sign his franchise tender until then.

Last season, Abraham had 70 tackles, 10 1/2 sacks, six forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. Abraham said he would skip training camp again if the Jets put the franchise tag on him and wouldn't be happy when he reports

problem with that is who wants to pay him 8 mil? the jets apparently don't want too.

I don't want him either...we can get the same sack production from using a combination of Johnstone and Udeze or James.

Yeah, agree i dont think we need him, we got good, young defensive ends that are pretty much doing their jobs, i would start to look around the league for some LB that is our major problem, maybe a coverage back!!! (Fred Smoot needs to improve his coverage).

We have an amazing defensive line as it is IMO. He isn't a necessity for us.

big deal that the jets dont sign him. we arent going to either. our dline is pretty good and he is way over priced. i could seen him end up on a team like washington.

I really don't see the Vikings having an interest in Abrahams. But he is a good DE.

Only problem, he's got an oversized ego and seems to always have a chip on his shoulder....
