"Sold" would not be the right word, but I would have no problem with either of these guys.

I also would have no problem with Kolb, Young, Orton, Locker or Gabbert.

    Get what I am saying?

The organization HAS TO DO SOMETHING to address the QB issue. That is it. I don't care what it is because it is such a crapshoot anyway, but all of these guys are young and could work for 5-10+ years as our QB.

If it fails ... it fails. Teams fail at the QB position all the time, because that is the nature of the beast.

But you have to TRY SOMETHING to fail, and this organization has not tried much in the way of a young QB since Culpepper other than T-Jack ... and they let that string out too long without any other real, young competition.

I don't even care if Webb wins the job from one of these guys in camp/preseason ... I just want to see it addressed.

What good is a QB if they don't have a quality line protecting them?

I just have a feeling the Vikes are gonna go with Christian Ponder or Ryan Mallett for some reason. Watch, Ponder will climb up the QB ratings between now and the draft. Now, it's a huge stretch...draft time, not as much.

I think Ricky Stanzi in round 2 would be a very likely possibility and a better option than Ponder.

I hear ya.....looks like we might agree that Frazier/Musgrave ain't gonna get caught up in the Kiper/McShay hype. I like Stanzi too...

    Ask the Rams and Bradford.

ahahahahahahahahahahahaAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHahahahahahahahahahahAHAHAHAHAHAHAH wait a second let me breath..... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry but that is the funniest thing i have ever heard in my entire life. as a hawkeye fan I can confidently say that Ricky Stanzi will never play in the NFL. the highest he makes it is a practice squad for a couple days. He wont get drafted, let alone in the second round. That would be worse than giving T-Jack a $100 million contract and making him start the next 10 years.

but in all seriousness, he is just not a smart quarterback. the only reason The hawks won any games with him at QB is because there was a decent team around him. That is shown by the fact that he threw 5 ints and the team still won the game for him

Call me nuts fellas but i really believe christian ponder is going to be a lights out quarterback in this league and i think we should take him in a heartbeat. Watched this kid and am very impressed with what I've seen. Very intelligent and good mechanics. He will be good mark my words.
I bet you could use a cool one huh Clark...Now you're talkin Eddie...

Ummm, actually, the Rams invested heavily in their OL BEFORE drafting their franchise signal caller.

Jason Smith was a top five pick. Roger Saffold was the first pick of the 2nd round. And J. Brown was the cream of the crop of FA OL 2 or 3 years ago and signed a huge contract to play Center.

I'm all for signing two vet QBs and drafting OL depth early. Perhaps, an OG/OT in the first, AND a C/OG with our early 2nd too!?

Newton is the win-from-behind athlete, but is said to be lacking in reading the defense and decision-making.

Mallet is the big, strong armed kid who is an utter clutz, and, said to have a massive ego.

Gabbert is another athlete with potential but lil experience vs. top notch teams...more of a develpmental guy.

Locker kinda scares me like Clausen did last year. Poor accuracy, and not much of a winning record. 2nd rounder maybe...

I guess I like Mallet the best, IF we can sit him for a year or two so he can grow into his body and overcome some of his clumsiness, his accuracy and height advantage could be dangerous down the road.

Thing is, when investing millions in a first round QB, you've really got to love the kid. A franchise QB is much, much more than an athlete. He's got to be amiable to the media and not take questions personally. He's got to be smart enough to remember his playbook/reads/video study on field at full speed. He's got to have a strong work ethic and a will to win. Thats a lot to ask for and we web-gms don't get to talk to them face to face.

Mallet doesn't have any better accuracy than the other guys you listed. he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn (but if he did, you'd have a window)
