Re: NFLFN: McKinnie for Jason Taylor

Not sure if I'm down with this...even the possibility.
Taylor is a great player, but, he's stated publicly that he is only gonna stick around for a couple more years.
We don't need a "I'm gonna retire, I think," Strahan/Favre headache every year.
On the other hand, if he was good to go for 5 more years...it becomes interesting to me.

Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent

Re: NFLFN: McKinnie for Jason Taylor

    I would gladly do it!
In my opinion, Jason Taylor is one of the best players in the NFL. He may not be as good as he used to be (I ranked him as top 5 in NFL at his prime, including all the positions) but finally the Vikings can get a Hall of Fame worthy defensive end.
He's 33 years old, so I guess he'll probably continue to play for 2-3 more years, but it's worth it.
C'mon, he's a guy that's almost sure to make 10+ sacks in a season. Plus, just imagine how the reputation of our defensive line will be a whole lot better than it already is.

We'll have the best defensice line in the league... period.

    DO THE TRADE!!!!!

Before we get too interested in the following rumor, I should mention one thing: This came from Charley Walters, so it has zero credibility. Zip. Nada. Indeed, it’s blind speculation from a “reporter” who was looking to fill some space in his column....

I like the swap the two and than swap our 47th for their 32nd as well. That would be nice, but I don't see it happening. I just think we're gonna try and get lucky in the draft...We'll see tho.

Interesting . Not sure how I feel about this. Taylor is older but McKinnie might be overrated.

I do not really see how this move would improve our team.
We are taking away one starter for another starter which just changes our need from DE to OL.
I would consider getting rid of Fat boy if they do plan on going OL in round one during the draft, but is that player good enough to start?
In our complicated OL system? I doubt it. You'd probably see Hicks there as a starter the first year, unless training camp/preseason proved otherwise.

We'd really need to get an OL via FA or trade who is already familiar with that type of system in order for him to start.

Then we start the whole "gelling" process all over again.

Or they can just wear these.

I doubt this rumor has any credibility.

Its probably just some reporter thinking "Well, McKinnie is in trouble, he lives in Miami, and the Vikings need a DE, LETS REPORT IT"

I guess you didn't read the post a few just before yours. Of course it's just a rumor.......

Re: NFLFN: McKinnie for Jason Taylor

I see people say that Taylor has less time to play that McKinnie. Well depending on how his court appearance goes then McKinnie maynot be available for part of this season to show his 'elite' talent and who's to say he won't do something equally boneheaded in years to come. At the moment his trade value is at his highest, if we leave it for another year then his value may drop due to court appearances etc etc.
For once lets do something that has a realistic benefit and stop cosying up to an over hyped, overpaid and over rated player.

I did read your post. I was agreeing with it.

It is a rumor, yes, but some rumors have truth to them. I was saying that I don't believe this one does.
