    I completetly forgot about him, he's a great player, I remember watching the USC UCLA Game and saying "Who is this guy" cause he was great, he's fast, he can catch, return punts, he's like Reggie Bush, but not quite that good.

    Re: NFL teams keeping quiet about Maurice Drew

    DeAngelo is a little short at 5' 9", but Drew is only 5' 7" that is small for the NFL.
    What we've got here is failure to communicate.

    But you were impressed weren't you. I watched alot of him this last year and reminds me a TON of Sprooles when he came out of K-State. I was PISSED when we didn't get Sprooles last draft and he ripped it up with the Chargers last year. I really hope we take a strong look at Drew if availabe as it states, he is a do-it-all type of player and K-Rob cant continue to be on special teams as much as he has been if it's true he's gonna be our #1 WR.

    I also wish the press would get his damn name correct also. This last year he changed his name to Maurice JONES-Drew. He added the Jones out of respect to his grandfather, who passed away this last year. Maurice said he's keeping the Jones in his last name, so fucking respect the guys wishes and get it correct if your going to take the time to write an article about him.

    Re: NFL teams keeping quiet about Maurice Drew

    Here's da poop on dis palooka. One ting's for soitain, we couldn't draft anyone smaller, y'know? HAH!
    ================================================
    Maurice Drew
    RB | (5'6", 207, 4.39) | UCLA

    Scouts Grade: 79

    Career Totals Rushing Receiving
    SEASON ATT YDS AVG TD REC YDS AVG TD
    2005 186.0 914.0 4.9 13 31 453 14.6 4
    2004 160 1007 6.3 8 18 262 14.6 3
    2003 135 582 4.3 5 15 104 6.9 0

    Strengths: One of the most versatile prospects in the 2006 draft class. He is a shifty runner with very good initial quickness and elusiveness. Possesses explosive top-end speed. He shows good vision and patience as a runner. Will consistently see the backside lane opening up and shows the change-of-direction skills to exploit it. He is elusive and will make defenders miss in space. He runs hard and will break more tackles than his smallish frame indicates. He runs with very good pad-level, which makes it extremely difficult for defenders to get a clean shot on his body. He has great experienced in the passing game. Possesses excellent hands and route running skills as a receiver. He also is one of the most explosive return-specialist prospects in this year's draft.

    Weaknesses: Is on the shorter side and lacks ideal overall size. He runs hard and is tough, but he is not an overpowering back that will be able to push the pile as an inside runner in the NFL. While he has great versatility, there are understandably many questions regarding his potential to handle such a big load as an every-down back and return specialist in the NFL. Making matters worse, he has had some durability issues in the past, including calf, ankle and shoulder injuries. He shows good technique as a blocker but will occasionally be overmatched at the point of attack versus bigger/stronger blitzing linebackers.

    Overall: Drew became the first freshman since DeShaun Foster in 1998 to lead UCLA in rushing, as he finished the 2002 season with 582 yards and five touchdowns on 135 carries. He also caught 15 passes for 104 yards while finishing 14th nationally with an average of 26.6 yards per kickoff with two TD's. Drew was hampered by an ankle sprain and a calf injury during his sophomore season in 2004 but he still finished with a team-high 1,007 yards and eight TD's on 160 carries, while catching 18 passes for 262 yards and three TD's. He also averaged 15.2 yards per punt return (with a TD) and 26.4 yards per kickoff return that season. Drew earned All-American recognition as an all-purpose back during his junior season in 2005, when he finished with 914 yards on 186 carries and 453 yards on 31 receptions, while also averaging 28.5 yards on 15 PR's and 13.8 yards on five KOR's. In total, Drew finished the 2005 season ranked 13th in all-purpose yards (155.25) and also contributed 20 touchdowns. In many ways, Drew reminds us of Eagles RB Brian Westbrook. Drew is a bit more compact and strong, while Westbrook shows a little bit more open-field explosiveness, but both are tremendously versatile backs that can contribute as runners, receivers and return men. Unfortunately, also like Westbrook, Drew lacks size and comes with his fair share of durability concerns. The team that drafts Drew cannot plan on using him as a featured back. However, if used properly in a versatile role, Drew should emerge as a potential game-changing weapon. That's why we consider Drew's value to be in the second-to-third round range of the 2006 class.
    ================================================
    Mebbe we could consider him in da thoid or fourth rounds, but, we needs LB's foist, y'know?

    The major difference is that DeAngelo will be a feature back in the NFL...Drew won't.

    Could be another Sproles...but not much more. Not worth the Vikings drafting him where he will probably go...second or third round...I would rather wait a little later and take a flyer on Jeremy Bloom.

    You can't be serious Caj. You would skip on Jones-Drew but would take a shot at Bloom? I stayed up late watching the West Coast games this year for the first time and this kid is tough, not to mention fast with great quicks and is a tremenous receiver out in the flats. He will be a starter in this league, he would take K.Rob's spot on special teams which we need, and also fits right in perfectly to the WCO. He would be a great additon with one of our 3rd round selections.
