NFL.com mock draft: Lions to take Baylor offensive tackle at No. 1
http://www.freep.com/article/2009030...097/1049/rss14NFL.com's Pat Kirwan recently released the second version of his 2009 mock draft. Unlike most projections, Kirwan has the Lions passing over Georgia QB Matthew Stafford and instead predicts them to select Baylor OT Jason Smith with the No. 1 overall pick. Smith was also in the top spot in Kirwan's first mock draft.
Why haven't we seen more of these...........IMHO you just can't have enough "Mock Draft Threads" at this time of year..... ;DMany many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Judging by the TJ situation, WR in the first is a strong possibility.

Anyone can/could make a nice arguement for the following positions:
a. CB - Whinny ain't getting any younger.
Gordon might not be 100% ever again.
We need some depth.
b. WR - Team needs something.
DR and JJ could be that something, however, why not throw another youngster in the mix.
That will fix everything.
c.
QB - If one of the first round talent slips they could take him.
Don't get many chances at a first round QB especially when you had a 10-6 record the year before.
d.
C - Unger and Mack would be damn hard to pass up considering the state most think our OL is in.
e.
DT - Phat Pat isn't getting any younger and we still might be looking at both of them suspended for a few games.
Add into that the number of our DL that are FA this year.
f.
LB - We saw how deep our LB position was last year didn't we?
Seriously, going out and getting sweep up talent off the streets?
WOW.
As ole Ricky Boy said in the podcast.
They can (and I bet they will) take the BPA every time they pick this year.
Just so happens that IMHO we don't have any pressing needs this year with most of the rooks making the team as backups/rotation guys instead of instant starters.
Good thing this draft has some nice talent in it that will help solidify some nice backup spots/future stars in almost every round. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.
