If we followed your logic, we never would have drafted AD.
Chester had a great year the year before.
The bottom line is we should be improving the team.

WHy is everyone afraid to make this team better. It's easy to let go of good players but when ever someone talks about bringing in improvements everyone B*tches. This is how teams get better. The Pats took a chance on Randy after getting Stall and Wes...

We don't have to loose Leber but we should have the best players on the field possible.
Infact... if Brohm is available at 17, i say draft him and let him battle for
    the future Qb title.
The whole logic thing the wouldn't of drafted AD is old.
Have we Over paid for him? Everyone gets injured yes but significant injuries like Walker has, Why do you think that
top player (like you claim) is looking to be moved? By a team that does need him?
Its not about being afraid to improve the team but, but about being smart in doing it. We can't just throw money around to every player and hope they do well for us. Walker will be expensive to keep here.
You talk about not loosing the good players but then you want to replace a player that played well(as you said Leber) for another player? huh? So by your logic as well We should bring in a top FA QB to make our team better as well. oh wait we need to give TJack a chance right?
No... bring in a Qb please.

Btw Walker wants out. The Broncos would love to keep him.

Sure the trade for Walker would not be that bad ... but I don't understand the manlove with Walker around these parts. The guy simply is a headache and has only had two ... count em' http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WalkJa00.htm ... good years (and only one of them was really all that special) and he is a nuisance and a whiner. I just don't see why everyone thinks he is anymore the answer than Koren Robinson was. Better to look elsewhere.

i dont know why we would want to trade for Vilma, we have a solid core of line backers, we do not need him, plus he was a one year wonder so far.
And you have us trading away two of our picks when we have a front office that loves to build with the draft, doubt any of that will happen, wishful thinking though.

It isn't that there is anything wrong with Leber.
He is a pretty solid LB.
Its more along the lines of does he fit the system.

If for some small reason we finally fix the front 4 on the DL and start to get pressure from them without alot of blitzing from the LB position he becomes a liability as he can't run with the TE's or get into the zone fast enough to take away the short slant.

Again, if we are to fix our pass defensive woes we need to make a few changes at DE, get a DT that can collapse the pocket (Phat Pat did look better last year in this regard - check out his tackles for loss stat) and get a LB that can run with the recievers/cover a back out of the backfield.

By the way, if you were to read my comments in the other Vilma thread you would see that I believe that guy is already on the roster and his name is Rufus.

Many people and teams are still very high on Vilma.
    He's a 4-3 backer, NOT a 3-4 guy.
I imagine that he'll thrive in a system better fit for him.

Let us not forget that Jonathan Vilma blew up his knee this season. So his speed may be in question.

I read that he had surgery to remove floating bone chips, so I guess it's not a tendon issue, which is good. But a knee injury is a knee injury, it's gonna slow you down. But he ran a 4.5 to begin with, so he'll be pretty quick nonetheless.

I'd like to see him in Purple, I've been high on Vilma his whole career, being from NJ I have the misfortune of watching Jets games every sunday. But he's one hell of a player.

    Great points Mr. A.

I for one believe that the way meds are these days a knee isn't as defastating as it once was if the player is smart about his rehab.

Unfortunately we have two examples on the Vikes.....

    Chad.
Game back strong with no negative impact to his speed or productivity.
Erasmus. Probably didn't rehab correctly or had a bad surgery or came back to soon.
My guess is it was a little of all three.

From what I've read on Vilma, it appears he healed pretty good, had a good rehab and is being shopped cause he doesn't fit the scheme instead of being dinged.

By the way, I still like Rufus to add that Cover 2 type of LB to the roster and wouldn't trade for Vilma.
Now if he came free/was released then I would go after him to replace DT if DT goes for the greener pasture someplace.

Re: My Trade Thoughts (Vilma, Walker)

I believe that Vilma was handcuffed in Mangina's system. He would excel in the 4-3 cover 2.
He would be too costly to trade for, but as a free agent,he would most definitely upgrade our LB corps.

BTW Mr A I love your avatar,Omar was 1 kewl thug...too bad that little kid made a whistle out of his head...I didn't see that one coming.
